Pamplemoose, Phoenixmee, Kayli and her unborn baby sister in NYC (a preview)!
Wow, yesterday I had the great pleasure of spending a few hours with Charity, Matt and Kayli as they ventured around Manhattan in the oppressive heat and humidity. Charity's trip research paid off -- the three were spending the night at the Omni Berkshire Place, a gorgeous hotel in midtown, steps away from Fifth Avenue and a short stroll to Central Park. That's where they planned to spend this morning before heading down to Princeton later today where Matt and Kayli will be competing in a karate tournament.
So, until she gets home and can post her trip report, I thought I'd share a few pics. I screwed up the sizing on the photo of Kayli in Battery Park, but I'll correct that when I get home and can re-upload the original. [Edit: I fixed it!] Below: Charity snaps pix of the Statue of Liberty from the Staten Island Ferry. ![]() The sun was behind them, so these shots all came out as silhouettes .![]() After our boat ride we strolled through Battery Park, where Kayli took LOTS of photos of the flowers -- and Charity seemed to know the names of so many of them! Hopefully Charity will post a few of Kayli's shots when she files her trip report. ![]() Kayli is a great kid -- adventurous and curious! I heard her ask her mom what "plastic surgery" is and we all tried to be nonchalant when she was asking about the bongs and hookahs we saw in the East Village head shop display windows , but it's clear there's no putting anything over on this smart cookie! But the poor child had been up since 5 am and she was starting to fade. We stopped into a restaurant at the tip of Battery Park City to refresh ourselves. ![]() After mojitos, (virgin pina colada for Kayli and pineapple juice for Pamps), an uptown subway ride, and a stop into K-Mart to pick up some Band-Aids, ointment, and socks for Kayli's blistered feet, we headed down St. Mark's Place. We let Kayli decide what to eat and she chose sushi, so we stopped into the first sushi place we spotted and it turned out to be a pretty good choice! Not only was the sushi YUMMO, but it was reasonably priced and they even gave us complimentary sake after our meal. ![]() The restaurant was also decorated with lovely little origami and paper sculptures. ![]() After dinner we poked around a few shops and made one last stop at Yaffa Cafe for a little chai and hot chocolate. ![]() And then it was time for me to see them back to their hotel and part company. It all went way too quickly but I'm counting on them coming again when they have more time. And so I thank Playa.Info for yet another wonderful encounter with peeps I've met on the forums. Looking forward to their full report and the results of the karate competition! Last edited by southbound : 06-29-2007 at 03:58 PM. |

Our project took too long this week so I am still in Trenton NJ... SO CLOSE.
Have to leave the customer site at 3pm and drive down to PHL airport. My associate gets to fly out at 5pm and I get to sit in the airport reading a book until my flight leaves at 8pm. Enjoy yourselves!!! |
