Under 20 World Cup (R)

In the Great White North.

The US has a tough group. Go ahead & deport me, but the faster we are out of this; the faster my club gets back 3 players. (Including the overrated Freddy Adu.)

Canada and Mexico should have no problems making it into the 2nd round.

It starts tomorrow (June 30).

Tickets are selling well, but if you are in Canada, you should see if you can grab some.

My Sky channels are just overloaded with Copa America, Sub 21 and a Soprano's marathon. Its almost too much.

It looks like Steve is going to be a bit busy, so I will take over as best I can.

The US tied Korea 1-1 yesterday. But big chunks of this game were played deep in the US half of the field. Korea also hit the crossbar.

Canada lost to Chile 3-0. I figured that Canada could win this, but they just could not connect any passes on attack.

Mexico has its first game tomorrow.

Your friends should see some good games.

Spain & Uruguay play in Burnaby.

Mexico won 3-0 over Gambia and they have to be considered one of the favorites.

I am VERY jealous! Burnaby; that's where Simon Fraser University is, right? I went to a conference there when I was in college. It is so pretty there.

The US opens up a Six Pack on Poland.

I checked Kayak.com for flights to Montreal for the quarterfinals or Toronto for the final and if you have to ask, you can't afford it.

Poland - USA 2007 U-20 World Cup highlights

Be sure to check out the US 2nd goal by Freddie Adu (Who had a hat trick BTW)...in the US 6 - 1 victory....

The volume seems low, but you can turn it up to catch the commentary.

Poland had just come off a BIG upset of Brazil.
The US had just struggled against South Korea.

Our #8 (Michael Bradley) plays in the Netherlands. Our #7 Danny Szetela was born in Poland and I think could obtain a EU passport so he may end up in the Bundesliga some day.

Freddy Adu is going to end up in England or Italy. The future looks good. Now, if they can just pull off a tie or win against Brazil.

Where is he playing at the moment? Still D.C.? I think he will end up in Manchester, Madrid or Milan. Just where the money is!

He was traded to some team in the West, if I am not mistaken.

That goal by Adu was excellent! Especially when you take into account that little turnaround/spin move he made to set it up, as well. Thanks for posting the video, and thanks for the thread work here, Juanito! Yes, I'm a little distracted, and it seems there's soccer to burn, these days.

Good to hear, especially in light of the sudden downward turn in USA soccer fortunes in the Copa América, that the some youngsters are looking good.

Gotta say I also get a kick out of diablo's team's (FC Kaiserslautern's) logotype, there, especially the bit! Knowing Germans, I'm thinking there is NO irony lost, here, especially for a team whose web site is literally "red devil" dot de (Deutschland = Germany). Any special team songs or chants we should know about, diablo?

Course I guess it could just stand for, ya know, FC Kaiserslautern...

Steve
