It is hot in June. But remember that Playa del Carmen is right on the ocean and a pleasant seabreeze always prevails. The sun is very strong that time of year, and because of the breeze you don't always feel just how strong it is, so be careful! Wear a hat, use sun block, drink LOTS of water and spend time in the shade.

Sizzle
We live in MS, and trust me, it's gets VERY hot here. However, we made a trip to the area in August one year, and I was AMAZED at just how hot it can get.....particularly when away from the beach area, and in a rental car that was SUPPOSED to have air conditioning.
And I thought I was acclimated to hot weather. Would I still go in the summer? YOU BET! Hot or not, it's a great place! |

re: sizzle
June is known for skeeters so pack some repellant especially if you venture inland and drink mucho aqua purificado to stave off dehydration ... for adventure you might try the atv jungle ride as promoted under the pdc directory (orange icons) on this home page ... I have done some hiking thru the jungle and found it very different yet as beautiful and intriguing as perhaps the woods outside your Ashland (a trip I have yet to make) but certainly the Pocono Mtns. of Pa. or the mountains twix Va. & WV ... in the jungle on foot or atv, I would don soft boots, long pants, high socks, long sleeves and a hat which is no more hot than shorts sandals etc but offer far more protection vs bugs etc problems ... kjtom
