Looking to celebrate a very special b-day

Hey All! Anyway, it's going to be my girlfriends b-day while we're down there, I was wondering if you could let me know of some nice restaurants I may be able to take her...I heard that there's a pretty cool place that's inside a cave??? We'll be staying at the ******, so I guess something somewhat close would be convinient! Thanks!

If you want to eat good food, DON'T eat at Las Aluzes cave bar! Go for a pre-dinner drink and the ambience and nothing more! I've eaten there twice and been sick both times!

I highly recommend the restaurant at Cocos Cabaņas in Punta Bete. The meals cooked by chef Helmut are incredible. The only problem is...he closes at 8pm. Ask any taxi driver to take you to Cocos Cabaņas...and it's romantic tooooo!

Enjoy!

thank you!

I guess I'm lucky to have posted that message...Is the restaurant you're recommending close by or far from ******? How far of a ride is it?

Hi again Ryo!

Punta Bete is about 8 km north of PdC but well worth the trip! It takes about 10 minutes by car. Sorry, but I don't have any idea how much you'd pay for a taxi.

Good luck!

We had a great dinner at Alux, the cave, a while back. It's a bit pricy but the ambiance is out of this world.

We also recommend a bunch of good restaurants on this site, under PDC Directory, all of which give a discount if you have the Playa Deal Card. For a special day, I suggest you check out Hemingways, Yaxche, Media Luna or La Rucola. They're all very close to ******.

I had a terrific dinner at Aluxes (the cave restaurant) in April as well, and I highly recommend it. I don't think there's any better place for a special occasion. As Anna said, the ambiance is out of this world. And seriously, when I was there, the food was fantastic.

Another romantic place is Apasianado (sp?). Good food and a great ambiance as well (but not as cool as the cave). If you like jazz music and people watching, it's fantastic.
