Car Rental Pickup PDC, Dropoff Puerto Jaurez
 Oh no, not another rental car question! I can hear denisea's sigh from here! But I searched and just couldn't find the answer to my unique question: "Where can I find the cheapest red rental car?".
Just kidding. Here's the scoop. Airport to PDC for a couple of days. PDC to Chichen Itza for a couple of days. Chichen to Isla Mejures for a couple of days. Another day as a float...I'm thinkin' back to PDC. I reserved a rental from arrival to Isla with a dropoff at the airport. I figure there must be reasonable transport to Puerto Jaurez from there. But I don't really need the car but for 3 days and don't relish the thought of having to worry about (and pay for) it for and extra 3 nites in PDC. I also would like to make life simple by skipping the airport dropoff if there's a rental agency close to Puerto Jaurez. Finally, I'm thinking it'll be quicker and less chaotic to rent in PDC than the airport after a flight. My priority is on ease over cost. So, does anyone know of an agency with a presence in PDC and near Puerto Jaurez? Advice greatly appreciated. -Checker |

Speacking from Experience, there is no easier way. There is no drop off anywhere near PJ. There are some downtown and some in the zone.
Rental over the internet versus the cost of walking up and renting a car in PDC is a wash price wise. So what do you do? You have a couple of options. One rent the car, drive to PDC, and venture out and about using PDC as a base to explore. Drive to Chitchen Itsa, exploring along the way. Drive to Isla, but catch the car ferry at Punta Sam ($20 will get you, car and one companion). Use the car to explore Isla instead of paying 50 bucks for a golf cart. 20 bucks gets you back to the main land and you can float your last day anywhere you want, cause you have transportation to get there. Two rent the car in PDC with an airport drop off. Walk from the rental agency to the local bus stop (right there in and among the rental shops) catch the local bus downtown with your missus and luggage (40 pesos each) to the bus station. Cab to the pier (30 Pesos) and then jump on the boat. Depend on public transportation on the last day to get where you are going. |
