Old PDC Hand, New to Board
My wife and I have been to PDC many times since we first discoverd it in 1991. I can't say all the changes are bad but it sure was a nice laid-back place when we first visited. the beach cam is a great addition. We will be returning on Aug 23rd for a week of R&R before she heads back to the classroom. If you will be there during that time, We'll be doing the tourista thing at Barcelo.

well vised playa also a lot in 1991-1994 there was nothing only one street that goes to the pier for the ferry and one local store.some nice restaurants right afterthe beach in a smal street.and only one hotel right next to the pier on your right,if facing the beach ,does anybody no the name off this hotel? but for us ,3 girlfriends it was the most spectacular beach we had ever seen.we were working on a cruiseschip from italie, and every thuesday we docked right off the pier in playa.and than the fiesta began. 12 botlles off corona beer for 5 us dollars, party time.went back in 2000 and was pleasantly surprise that its still has his flair.still laidback and beautiful.now we are goining again the 16 julyto the grand
.my hard is still in paya del carmen, and i think it will always be. happy traveling everbody

Local meals
Anja,
What I remember most from our first trip in 1991 was that the restaurants were all local places with inexpensive prices and good food. I don't remember the name of the place but we ate at a restaurant that was many blocks off the beach and was only a palapa with a concrete floor. They had roast goat on the menu so I tried it. That meal was the single best meal I've ever had and I've eaten in some fancy places and all of the best dives. Every time we return I look for goat on the menu but haven't found it again. If anyone has knowledge of where I could find a roast goat meal while I'm there I'd appreciate a tip. Gene |
