The tips of my thumb and two fingers on my left hand are blistered from having plastic melted to them last night ( beer + fireworks = trouble), my brand new Kubota lawn tractor keeps overheating for some unknown reason and it is raining... again.
BUT I'll be in PDC in a few days so it isn't all bad

Did Someone say Rant!??
Suzie, I understand that the heat and the humidity can get old pretty quick.......But it is where I feel the most at home. Stampede! The Greatest outdoor show on Earth!! Starts tomorrow! NOT QUITE!! What audacity to call the Stampede the "Greatest outdoor show on Earth". These people have obviously not travelled. I have seen better shows, parades, amusement parks in small towns in Europe. How about the parade. It has got to be one of the biggest disapointment to tourist that come to Calgary. Where is the Pagentry, the spark, the stars?? What the hell are religious floats doing in the parade? They have no place there. It is obvious that the Stampede board wants to keep the parade an "all Canadian" affair as there are rarely any foreign guests save for some American marching bands. You want a great parade? Drop the Canadian flag and pick up the phone. Call Disney to send a float and mascots, call some major colleges to send marching bands and acrobatic cheerleaders, call Vegas and get some "special guest" to be in the parade.....Ha, I can think of one Canadian float that would greatly impress tourists......Cirque du Soleil. Get some world class musical talent! Not just some local unknown, Heck they can't even get their own Shania Twain!! Believe it or not they have one called Shania TWIN! Want Canadian? Call Cirque du Soleil...have them bring a float! The streets: The streets are full of dust and gravel left over from winter. What a shame. The main pedestrian mall and downtown sidewalks are full of "goo", Spit, stains. The city does NO street cleaning. Great impression for the tourists. .... |

Rant:
1) Work! We're perpetually short-handed, so I have to do my job and someone else's. It's been almost two weeks of doing that, and it's exhausting. 2) Steamboat Springs Police Department! It's illegal to be a teenager here - not just my opinion (I have a teenage son, so I might be partial), but also many others' opinion. In fact in the last election, the man that won the sheriff position used "unfair treatment of teenagers" as part of his campaign platform. And it's ongoing even so. 3) Lazy, able-bodied people who don't work and consistently expect others to help them out. Steamboat seems to have a high percentage of these. I have "friends" who don't work, and expect me to pay for everything because I have a job. Or who borrow money from me and then take their sweet time about paying it back, while still having the fundage to afford going out on the town every night. I am about to the point where I am going to tell these people, "I give up TIME to work, you have all the time in the world. Let me borrow some of that, OK?" Whew, I feel slightly better.

The grass is dryin' up, the ground is cracking...if it weren't for the lake irrigation, it would be a complete mess! We are about 12 inches down from normal.....

Sorry for those in a draught but &*^%$#@ this rain is driving me CRAZY!!!
This has been going on so long that I'm now convinced this is the way it's going to be for all of eternity At least the kids shooting off fireworks in the middle of the street until 2 this morning had no danger of setting the trees on fire
