Well...Tim (bgfangs) and I got divorced, but I don't think that would work for everyone. (Sorry, couldn't resist...now on to the serious answers.)

you mean other than tequila I suppose???

I think in my case, the main factor is lack of jealousy.......alot of my close friends/confidants are chicks and Terri's are guys.....other than that, we did live kinda freakish parallel lives and we didn't get married until we were 30.....plus, I'm a little more reserved and cautious which helps keep her extremely outgoing personality in check....you never know when she's just gonna wander off and start talkin to complete strangers...or dolphins

Ditto what Jacko said.

Also, it takes not caring about the stuff that really doesn't matter. Like who does what around the house, etc. And also enjoying being together and also enjoying time apart once in a while (i mean, being at home together, but doing separate things such as her watching TV and me posting here). And great respect and trust in eachother

If either one of you has a tendency to clam up instead of dealing with conflict, that is bad. Open communication is paramount -- even if that communication happens to be negative at the time. Suffer in silence is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Nothing gets better by being left alone to solve itself.

A spotlessly clean house is overrated.

amen and alleluia

a lot of talking... about mundane things, about important things... stopping to ask how the other person is doing... showing that you care... doing the little things they like... being considerate... sometimes just remembering to be polite

and apologizing when you forget and act ugly (BIG one!)...

laughing, laughing, laughing...

and touching... doesn't have to lead to anything, or suggest anything... but a touch in passing, or holding hands on a walk, these feel good...

i think i'm rambling...

i'm done

A good marriage is toleration of the faults of your spouse. We all have them! (faults that is)

I'd have to agree. When we differ we don't hesitate to disagree. But then we move on. Don't hold grudges.
