Flash and Lulu's Hawaiian Odyssey-A Photo Trip Report

So here it is, the first installment that is.

We flew out the morning of the 4th, don’t even remember the exact time, but I do know that it was a FULL flight. (Sux).

Flew into Honolulu with a small layover...

Then unto Kona on the Big Island.

By the time we got to the hotel and got to the room, the sun was already setting.

Had just enough time to grab my gear to take some firework pics. I was happy with the results.

The next couple of days were spent strolling around Kona and taking in the sites.

With the wedding approaching on Saturday, we didn’t get to get to explore as much as Laura and I normally like to. But things would change later in the trip……

Your pics are so clear they hurt my eyes!

Guess I'm so used to straining my eyeballs to look at one of MY pictures that I can't get used to seeing good ones!

Saturday was the wedding, so we were all wrapped up in that, and Sunday was a day of rest...

Was able to take this from our balcony...

Monday brought some of the best times we (ok, maybe just me) had on the island. The groom had chartered a boat to go marlin fishing. He invited us to go along.

Same boat Monday morning coming off the elevators...

Just to warm us up, they dropped lines for some skipjack, or Ahu tuna. Didn't take us long to get some hits, but the groom was already a little quesy, so I got to land the first two skipjacks. I was definitely out of my element, but had such a blast reeling them in...

Laura got a good shot of Maui, about as close as we ever got...

Short time later, we got a marlin! The groom went from horizontal to vertical in a blick on an eye and was strapped into his chair.

Here's Andy helping out...

The marlin was 124 inches tail to tip. They estimated between 300 and 325 lb's.

Once measured, they checked out the marlin to make sure was alright. After that, it was back into the deep blue...

After that, we just took in a sunny boat ride.

One last look at my catch...one was between 20-25, and the other was under 20 they say...

Had to get back and cleaned up for Monday evening activities.....

LOVE that first pic!

In the last pic it looks like you caught a baby dolphin!

Where in Hawaii were you? We've never been, but are talking about maybe going there for next Spring Break.
