La Floresta has opened a new branch, by 10th Avenue and Calle 12, not far from the Banamex bank office.

I haven't been there yet but I've been told the tacos taste the same as at the original branch.

Went to the new place tonite. The old sign hangs over the sidewalk for Rancho Viejo, I think. But if you look there is a La Floresta sign there also. Great tacos, same price. Outside seating is outstanding, if you will.
BUT, for a few more days they are still in 20% off for the month of November as an opening promotion. On the whole bill. 3 tacos and a beer was 58 pesos.
Good stuff.

Finally made a trip to La Floresta on the highway today. Can't believe I've missed this on previous three trips. It was awesome, but 3 tacos really needed 6 tortillas given the size of the shrimp and pieces of fish.

The new one doesn't seem to be there. At least I couldn't find it

Thank you playa.info for educating me

Good stuff.

The place (old Ranco Viejo) seems to turn into a sports bar (for locals) at night like it was about 10 years ago.

Jeez. La Floresta is still there and open. It is next to the Hotel Maria Bonita. There are La Floresta menu signs hanging off the front of the place which is two rows of covered sidewalk tables. Between 5-7PM it has been good fish tacos for me at La Floresta. Also like Gamberi fish tacos on 10th av amongst all the taco/torta places. 13 pesos for shrimp and fish tacos. Even heard this clan talking about La Floresta. Could have influenced them as Gamberi tacos have gotten better,

Here's my deal on La Floresta

I consider La Floresta to be an iconic Playa restaurant. The shrimp and fish tacos are the best in Playa, or stand head to head with anyone else serving such delicacies.

Every time I come down to Playa, I stop off at La Floresta for lunch of shrimp tacos and a cold beer. There is no better way to know that you are really in paradise and to dust off the grime of the States. It also is the best way to introduce newbies that you are introducing to Playa and give them a dose of why they are so silly for having missed this experience for so long.

As a side note, I never leave La Floresta without asking to buy a bottle of their green hot sauce, which they sell me for about $2 US. I use it for my trip while in Playa, and then smuggle the rest home with me. It is mindbending hot and delicious. I use it on everything that needs a hit of heat. But be careful!@ I passed out once when I overused it on a hot and muggy day. I take no personal responsibility.

La Floresta was the very first place in Playa to serve shrimp tacos.

OK, I talked to the mgr today. The La Floresta on 10th Av is open every day from 9AM to 5:30PM, same hours as the place on the highway.
At 8PM the 10th Av location becomes a bar under different owners.
Was there this afternoon at 5PM. Great Shrimp tacos. Big shrimp, still 17 pesos. Great fish tacos with lots of fish, 17 pesos.
Closed Xmas.

La Floresta has been around since either 1994 or 1996.
Weather in south FL was cold at night with temps in the mid to upper 30's to the lower 40's.........and you probably think that is warm.

Found the best deal on beer today in Playa (and I know that you don't love beer) BUT for 100 pesos you get a bucket of 6 Barrilito beers or 5 Negra Modelo Especial beers PLUS chips and fresh cerviche (shrimp and fish) PLUS all of the adult entertainment that you can take. Just don't buy the entertainers a beer cause that would set you back 200 pesos.

AND lots of new eateries opening in the north end. Right close to me I can think of at least 5 offhand. When are you all coming back? We need food photos
