Little Cessna couln't brake on time in PdC

Full article in Noticaribe.com

Basically the Cessna was not able to stop (after a flight from Cancun) within the normal runway area and hit the wire fence around the airport, almost hitting a pasing van driven by Italian Paola Baela Seruti, but missing it fortunately.

The little plane ended obstructing half of the street leading to Playacar. No victims fortunately.

You spend your days at the balcony instead of the beach?

I would do that after high school as my house is just 5 km. from the Mexico city airport, I had the opportunity to see the Concorde almost every week, but I didn't had the white beaches and the turquoise ocean a few blocks from my entrance!!!

How many planes and choppers would arrive/depart the airport in the timelapse you watched?

well... I did spend my days at doing all sorts of stuff.. beach included.. this was mostly in the afternoon.
There was much traffic that woke me up in the mornings.. but I never counted.. it was through the day like 1-5 in an hour, but really I have no idea. when there came helicopters there was soo much noise.. the first time I heard it I thought there was an earthquake or something.. so much noise.

there was also ALOT of traffic there all day so i watched the tourists go into Playacar and the policemen in the next house picking up the drunks.. yeah.. very fun life hahaha..

The caption under the picture says the plane was trying to take off, and the article says it was trying to land. Perhaps that's why the pilot crashed! He didn't know which one he was doing

So far what I read in an Airplanes forum, the plane was landing.

You know reporters, they write about tons of things without having any real clue.

At least the guy had the good since to kill the engine… notice the prop blades, only the two on the low end are bent.

That is a scary little airport to begin with, what with how short the runways are

Is only one runway no space for more,

And is a short one because is intended for small planes.

Fortunately in Texas the planners gave airports ample room for growing, but Playa wasn't expected to be this big.

I know, but think about all the conditions having to be perfect for takeoff and landing in a small plane with a runway that short........scary......

I've been in and out of the airstrip several time in a twin-engine Cessna. It's very doable with the right landing technique and knowledge.
