ADO bus question

We're thinking about taking the bus to Playa from the airport. I know I could search this but I don't think I've ever seen this question answered and I'm too lazy to read through all of the results.

Is there plenty of space for luggage under the bus? We're staying for two weeks so we'll have two big suitcases and probably two small ones. Will that be a problem for storage?

Each ticketed passenger is allowed two pieces of luggage (under the bus). I do not believe that there is any weight limit (but not sure on that). There is also some storage space above the passenger seating areas.

Muchas gracias a todos! Then we'll definitely take the bus. This'll be a new experience for us...we're used to being whisked away in a van or car. But I'd rather spend the money in town on drinks, or food, or paletas!!!

(Nancy, when's your next trip gonna be?)

(A', I know how much crap you bring, so I guess we're safe!)

Five of us just used it this week, and we had five suitcases and 6 carry-ons. It was no problem.

BTW, the bus is now dropping off and picking up at both Terminals 2 and 3. It is no longer necessary to take a shuttle between terminals to catch the bus.

So, you can take the ADO bus if you arrive at the chater terminal too now? We are making our first trip to Playa the first of September and knew to take a right out of the main terminal to find the bus, where do you find the bus at the chater terminal? I've heard its kind of a crap shoot as to which terminal you will end up at. Also, can you buy tickets to the bus at the chater terminal?

I encourage you to not think of them in terms of 'charter' and 'main' terminals. Specific airlines are assigned to specific terminals, so it's really not a 'crap shoot'. Your airline will know which terminal that is - Terminal 2 or Terminal 3, Terminal 3 being the one that just opened in May of this year. The ADO bus arrives and departs at both now.

There are ADO reps everywhere(including at the bus), and you can buy tickets from them.

Thanks, Judy! It's a relief to know there'll be plenty of room for our stuff. I think it'll be much more economical for us. Besides, every time we book a private transfer, they send a car and we can barely fit all of our luggage in it anyway!

yeah, your airline may know which terminal to go to but that doesn't mean the passengers will know - unless the pilots announce it prior to arrival?? Either way and whichever terminal, i'm sure we will get there . It's nice to know that they have busses leaving from other terminals even though its probably not a big deal to shuttle over. Thanks for the info!!!

This is good news, should make it easier for us bus "rookies".

Thanks for posting.

There is plenty of space for the luggage on the bus. Having said that, to quote the travel guru, Rick Steves, "One thing you will never hear an experienced traveler say is, 'I wish we would have brought more luggage.'"

Ain't it the truth!!

Bus Rookie #1 = Queencityfan
Bus Rookie #2 = Nerak936

Now all we have to do is figure out if we're landing at the same terminal that day and which bar I'll be getting lit at while waiting for your flight to arrive!!

(Note to Sharon: If you don't see sitting me ON a bar stool, you might want to check the floor area AROUND the bar stools!!)
