Thanks for the pics Judy, you know I love this beach, if you walk north a bit you can sometimes get a free ride to Playa via the white cattle truck!

If you want an SLR, a nice model is the digital Rebel. It doesn't have the bells and whistles of a professional SLR but it does have a lot of options that you don't get with a point and shoot. You can get one for around $500, depending on what you want to get with it.

If you want a decent point and shoot, I highly recommend the Canon S3 IS. This looks like an adolescent SLR (not full-sized SLR). It is not an SLR, however. The camera has a great optical zoom and takes great video (particularly for posting on the Web). The S3 IS also has "image stabilization," which is great after a night of Playa craziness at places like the Tequila Barrel.
Thanks Scoop, I'm also a canon person, but I really want a middle of the road slr, technology changes so fast. I want to take a pic of a flower early morning and be able to see dew drops on the flower. Does this make sense?

Ok, what the heck. I think I'll join in the photo fun too

Here are some of my shots of Playa out and about:

"Birds on Poles"

"People and Boats"

"Drift Wood"

"Stop Here For Lunch?"

"El Viejo"

"Furniture Detail"

"Guitars 1"

"Goofy 1"

"Backlit"

"Sarongs"

"El Faro Lighthouse"

"Cloud with Cat"

I'll stop here otherwise I'd end up filling up page after page with photos. I have so many it's hard to just post some of them.

If you're interested, visit my galleries at the link below to see more of my work.

Hope you enjoy the ones I posted above

Judy, thanks so much for posting the pics at Xpu Ha. We love it and spent several days there on our last trip. It's such a treat to be taken back there after a long day at work! Hope to visit again in Feb. if all goes well.
