A new trip report!
It has been years since I posted a trip report, so I thought it would be fun to do one now. We just returned home from a fabulous 5 days where we were lucky enough to share our friends' wedding day with them.
I'm going to make this trip report really short and sweet! Playa 07/07 I actually made myself take quite a few pictures this time (link above), which was a lot of fun. We stayed at Playa Maya, which is always terrific, had a private yoga class with Arielle, attended a gorgeous wedding on the beach and incredibly fun reception at Kool (with fire dancers!), had a spa afternoon at Itza Spa, snorkeled at Chankanaab, Akumal Bay, Yal-Ku, Half Moon Bay, Casa Cenote, and Cenote Jarden del Eden, went on the F1 boat, hung out on the beach, and ate more guacamole and salsa than should be allowed! ![]() We packed in a ton of fun, but still missed some things I was really counting on, mainly not getting to see my dear friend Susie and not getting to go to the animal shelter. I think that sums it up in the shortest trip report I've ever written! Big thanks to Heather for taking care of my last minute requests, changes and cancellations! ![]() Becky |

Wow! Great to see a post... even better a trip report from you! I've been wondering what you and Bill have been up to these days. It's seems like ages since we've been in touch. Sounds like you had a great trip... as always. Tell Bill that Keith and I said "Hola!" Hope to see you both in Playa again someday.

Thanks Susie! Next time, I promise!
![]() MWC - yes, this was my first trip to Chankanaab post-Wilma. The snorkeling was really good. In my opinion, the coral clearly took a beating, but it was still very nice. There are still lots and lots of fish, and something new to me was a huge (and I do mean huge) starfish farm (I guess that's what you call it). It had to be over 100, if not several hundred starfish over a large area. It was very, very cool. I'm not sure how long it has been there, but it was new to me. All the statues are still there, and actually look better since they were removed and cleaned at least once with all the hurricane activity in the past few years. It also seemed like they have moved the big white balls that mark the furthest distance you can snorkel in closer to shore somewhat. When I saw big manta rays there several years ago, I'm sure we were much further out. Chankanaab is a really great option for us to snorkel as a family, as my husband and boys like to practice free diving, and Chankanaab is very deep, which they like. The girls and I tend to snorkel more on the surface, and the water is so clear that we can still see everything, even on the bottom. Becky |
