Almost every picture at this thread makes me happy i´m still living in Sweden... If a spider that size would appear in the shower I would be the one dying painfully - drowning by inhaling a lot of water in a severe state of shock

Geckos and other types of lizzards dont scare me, I have a gecko here in my terrarium - but big bugs and spiders of any kind...

You brave people living there

In August, we saw some of the biggest grasshoppers. I didn't get chance to take a picture. I would say that they are 3"-4" long. Some of the local families were collecting them and keeping them alive. Anyone know anything about these grasshoppers?

This one is covering a window. Well OK, it's actually about 10cm wide including the legs.

I love your spider pic, Mindbender. So cool! I like spiders, although I have to admit that I wouldn't like to share my shower with a wolf spider. You're so brave, Susie!

Here are some of my pics.

Eww ... flying cockroach.

Tarantula on 38th Street

This guy landed on my husband's shirt and didn't want to leave.

Are these the ones?

Our friend Lynn, at Sacbe, sent them to us back then.

Here a few litlle creatures we've encountered, some of these photos have been posted elsewhere on the board before so forgive me if you've already seen them!

We actually thought this was a tarantuala until we took a photo and the flash lit it up and we saw it was a crab!

A shrimp?

This cute little fella is deserving of a mention due to his size - he was no bigger than 1inch absolutely tiny which you can't really tell in the photo other than by comparing him to the black stuff inbetween the tiles...

Scariest moth I've ever seen, it was the size of a bat!! Again, its hard to tell the size on the photo but if you look at the door frame its 2-3x bigger than that to give you an idea!! It flew at my face when I was trying to take a closer photo and this resulted in the funniest fall/flying dive to get away from it of my life!

Not an insect but a scary one none the less, he really didn't like us and stood guarding the path!!

Dunno what this weird little creature was!

Saw this fella in the surf the other day:

Normal enough grasshopper, right? Well, except for that weird "skin" around his neck.

But look at this...

And, no, your eyes do not deceive you. He IS that much bigger than my finger! I have never seen such a huge bug in my life, outside of a zoo!

Poor guy was missing half a leg, so maybe he was on a suicide mission into the ocean, but we relocated him anyway, near a tree, off the beach a little bit. I would have thought some bird would find him to be a tasty breakfast, but no one was bothering him. 'Cept us.
