Yellow Jersey kicked out of Tour de France

Quote:
Pau - Yellow jersey wearer Michael Rasmussen was sensationally kicked out of the Tour de France by his own Rabobank team, the Dutch outfit revealed on Wednesday.

Rasmussen kicked out of Tour de France

The Dane had seemingly weathered the storm over missing four out of competition dope tests in the past 18 months and had won Wednesday's stage to all but seal overall victroy.

However the team has learnt that Rasmussen lied to them over where and what he was up to during the month of June when he was in fact in Italy and not in Mexico as he had told them.

Rasmussen had won two stages during the Tour, though, his presence at the race was questioned by several officials and from the race organisers as well.

UN-friggin'-believable!

I'm not saying a wrong decision has been made, but I cannot fathom why any sportsman would take the risks that are being taken. Selfish s.o.b.'s are taking dope despite the risk getting caught and, far worse, despite the consequences not only for themselves but also for "clean" fellow cyclists...

Thing is, with Rasmussen, he's supposedly kicked out by his team-management because of lying about his whereabouts during a period of training. He should have had doping tests during that period, which he didn't.

It's so disheartening. The Tour is one of the best sporting events anywhere. But it, like so many other events, (and cycling, like so many other sports) is being ruined by the "win at any cost" attitude.

Has pro cycling reached the point where you've got to be doping to be among the elite? Or do we think there's anyone left in contention who might win fairly and cleanly.

What do these people think they're doing? It's just horrible. And I guess it sounds naive, but I am so disheartened that this -- what I would call American attitude, at all costs -- is infiltrating European sports.

I am dying to see what kind of inner physical condition all these "enhanced" athletes will be in in a decade or so.

And the worst is: they keep denying they've done it... Jan Ullrich till today didn't admit anything althought there is PROOF...

Well- anyone who watches sports these days with a close focus will most likely agree that probably most of the athletes are doped in one or the other way.........I guess there is a point in every sport that can't be beaten without doing it.

Question is what to do?
Like this it's unfair to those who don't dope and no fun.......

Making doping legal is neither going to be good as those who don't want to do it (rightfully so) will slide off the radar and the others will harm their health.

Why not really open two categories for any sport: one without doping, and one with allowed doping? Those who want to ruin their health can go for it then without belitteling the achievements of others.

The Tour scandal made the front page of today's NY Times.

I feel somewhat vindicated that Barry Bonds seems to be falling into a pattern of having to take one or two games off for every game he plays.
Joints can't take the extra weight for long, dumb-f*ck? Ha!

Well- in case of cycling let's still make two categories for the fun of it, so we can see hundreds in the doped category and ONE (automatic winner....) in the none-doped version.
