I'm so sorry I'm late to this thread. I saw it on my way to bed last night. This morning I've just been running and running. I'm home for a moment.

Now when you said Hermosa, were you talking about Hermosa Beach? There are all the clubs and restaurants on the pier. Sangria on Pier is an excellent place to have dinner with a group. Very festive but nice. You can sit outside.

Also Alegria on Pine in Long Beach is fun and you have all the activity of Pine and 3rd Street.

Hollywood Bowl with friends. Get there early and have a picnic with wine.

Studio City there is a restaurant that serves Moroccan food with belly dancers. You eat with your hands. It's so much fun.

If you want to go a bit farther, you can go to Vegas for a weekend. Right now allot of the hotel are having summer heat wave specials.


Now if you want to party at home and hubby is willing to do set-up and clean-up. There's wine tasting. Or tequila tasting with margarita's and mexican food. How about chinese take out? We had a party where everyone brought their favorite dish from their favorite chinese restaurant. We got to sample allot of restaurants in one night and had a blast.

Let me know what kinds of things you like to do and I'll see what else I can come up with.

Just read through your post again. You b-day is in Oct....failed to see that before. Hollywood Bowl may be over for the season. Vegas is still an option but may not be the deal it can be in summer

Playa party is a good idea. Margarita party or Tropical party. Get plastic lei's for everyone and little umbrellas for the drinks. Coconut and shell assessories. Oriental Trading company sells in bulk and has all this stuff pretty inexpensively if you need allot.

Thanks so much for all the ideas! The place in studio city sounds fun! Ill have to think about that one! Hermosa Is my old stomping ground thats why I thought of it. Lots of club like stuff but some great little dive places too! And there is a little motel on the beach that has okay rates. And then I could get my philly cheese steaks mmmm
