Nicole Richie sentenced to four days in jail

Gossip, Law, Nicole Richie, Pregnant Nicole Richie will be doing jail time - pregnant or not. The 25-year-old starlet was sentenced to four days in jail after pleading guilty for DUI. Her arrest took place back on December 11 when she drove the wrong way down a Los Angeles freeway and later failed a sobriety test.
It was Richie’s second DUI conviction, which requires a minimum jail sentence of three months. Because she chose to take three years probation, the sentence was reduced to four days. In addition to the jail sentence and three-year probation, Nicole must take an alcohol education program and pay a fine of $2,048.
Richie and her boyfriend, rocker Joel Madden arrived at the Glendale courthouse in California around 8:20 am on Friday. They waited together in the front row of the court room whispering until Richie’s case was called. At one point during the hearing, Steven Lubell, Los Angeles County Commissioner, told Richie, "Someone could've gotten killed. You need to understand that driving under the influence is extremely dangerous."
Jane Robison, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles District Attorney told Us Weekly, "The judge did not give her special treatment. She is given the same option that any person who pleads guilty to this charge to serve in county or county jail. She just has to show proof of completion by September 28." Regarding Richie’s alleged pregnancy, prosecutor Carolina Lugo said, "That was not discussed and we have no information about that."

Actually I think I have a little more respect for her than Paris and Lindsay because she at least pleaded no contest and didnt try to deny she did anything wrong. Also, if she is indeed pregnant she didnt try to use that as a sob story. And she didnt go out and get busted again for the same thing while awaiting trial.

I saw an interview with him a few months ago, they asked him how she was doing (she was on heroin at one time, right? it was after that came out)...he was in total denial, "yep yep yep she's fine, she's doing awesome, change the subject".....shortly after that she was arrested for DUI.

Understandable, really, it was their personal family business. I am sure he feels awful about it all, like any parent would...once they are over 18 what are you going to do?
