Comcast Digital Voice - Anyone had experience with it?
Yup. Another telephone-related inquiry.
Didn't get a very good signal on my cell phone while at the house last night, so I'm thinking that's not a good way to go (i.e. cell only). Am wondering about perhaps doing the Comcast Bundle thing (TV, internet, and phone). Have had the Comcast TV/internet for quite a while and love it. Wondering if anyone here has had experience with the Comcast Digital Voice that they offer. Pros? Cons? Thanks for your help, my fellow peeps!! |

I have Comcast digital phone, internet and cable. The sound quality on the phone is great! It's better than the Qwest service I had previously. The only down side is that if you lose your cable you lose your phone too. I've only had this happen once and it was only for about 2 hours after a thunderstorm. It was no big deal because I had my cell phone. The only thing to keep in mind is that they'll offer a great price for the bundle for 12 months and then it will go up. I think mine went up about $30.00.

Sounds like it might be the way for me to go. And since I'm keeping my cell phone, I would have that if I lost the cable connection. Good point!! Last edited by Nerak936 : 07-27-2007 at 08:20 PM. |

I hope Comast in Mass is easier to deal with than Comcast in Georgia!
![]() Seriously. I ordered internet service, but I couldn't get them to get me the modem that i'd paid for. No one I have talked to on the phone with them is knowledgeable or helpful. When we first signed up, the cable box wouldn't work right, and it took jumping through flaming hoops to get a new one. We are debating dumping the cable internet for DSL, even though it would be more expensiveHowever, now that we have the services set up, it is fine. That is, I guess, until it goes out again. |

We have it and bought the bundle, but since we already had cable and internet, we didn't qualify for the $99. In fact, the guy that originally called me soliciting it was from Seakonk! Anyway, we upgraded to digital cable, and I love the On Demand for exercise tv. There are tons of good programs to do. The phone service is great. No long distance charges like with the other plan we had. Ours is $158/mo. for 12 months, that includes all the taxes and damn fees! They couldn't tell me the price after 12 months (of course not!) but if it's too much, we'll switch to AT&T or something else!

I'm glad you're doing the research for me, Karen
Ditto with the poor inside service - I'm surrounded by trees and woods.I've been thinking the exact same thing - probably gonna go for Comcast's VOIP (though I detest the thought of giving them another penny) until the price jacks up (and with Comcast, that's a given ) then probably get rid of the land line completely.I don't know - it's something about feeling transient if I don't have a landline. Oh, one thing I have heard is to get Comcast's DVR service - so I don't miss those late night FX shows I never make it for. |

Thanks to everyone for their help!!
The current Comcast online offers expire on 8/10 and with installations by 9/7, so I'll have to wait to see what happens after that (my closing date is currently slated for 9/14). AND... I guess I should also wait til the P&S is signed before I make any moves on this stuff, huh!! ![]() I just want to make darn sure I get this stuff hooked up at the house ASAP. I mean... hey, I've gotta have access to Google and Mapquest to find the nearest pizza joint and package store, right? Priorities!! Priorities!!!!! |

![]() WOW! and I thought our 58 were impressive! I know how you feel though...in addition to those, I do have a relatively large stemware collection, some of which are handblown, expensive pieces, yada yada yada. So yeah, packing isn't easy! |
