That particular link's ranking is quite a mixed bag, when you look at it. I'm guessing it's a pretty heavily player-oriented thing, in a lot of ways, and a particular type of player, like the Satriani/Vai type of player, maybe, mixed with a sort of core rock style or something. I mean for example if you step back and talk about great rock guitar work, well I don't think you can objectively go so very far (unless your view is sort of narrow) without coming in with any one of many great Santana performances, and yet that list doesn't get to him until Black Magic Woman at #102.
They don't hit Cinnamon Girl until #185, and Moonage Daydream isn't on the list at all, even though it goes up to almost 250. So far I like our collection here better. ![]() Anybody hear like to listen to some Jeff Healey from time to time? Blue Jean Blues, a fiery cover of While My Guitar Gently Weeps... Steve |

I just saw him 2 nights ago...note my Avatar He's probably the best "Active" Rock guitarist around right now IMHO. Nice list Ryberg, I almost put All Along the Watchtower in there... Heres another site some cat put together with top rankings for about every rock category you can think of. (Ami....on that list you'll notice all of the DT musicians are in the top 35 of all time for their respective instruments including the 2 keyboardists who are no longer with DT) HAHA..just saw it's the same guys site that Ryberg listed...just a different category.100 Greatest Rock Guitarists I know most folks have never even heard of Dream Theater, they get absolutely no radio play because of their avg 8 min long songs, and progressive classification. As far as Petrucci, If you havent heard him, here he is in Liquid Tension Experiment, which is 3 members of Dream Theater and the great Tony Levin on Bass.check this out... Live tune YouTube - liquid tension experiment paradigm shift Studio tune YouTube - Acid Rain - Liquid Tension Experiment Oh....Ami, just in case you didn't know.....DT will be in Houston, 2007-08-03 - Verizon Wireless - Houston, TX ![]() Anyone intersted in seeing some awesome Dream Theater....just YouTube search "Dream Theater Score" This was their 20th anniversary show at Radio City Music Hall last year, second set included a full Orchestra. Heres a REAL crappy phone pic from friday night in LA ![]()

Cool! I've always thought he was an amazing guitarist...I know he's made some list in a guitar magazine of being one of the best out there. And I have Dream Theater coming to Houston next Friday and hope to catch them. How was the show? What's their current set list?

![]() Highlights for me were... Scarred - phenominal Lines in the Sand - one of my top 5 DT tunes, hadn't seen live in the 7 or so times I'd seen them. In the Presence of Enemies - The new 24 min Epic....deffinatly gets you worked up... ![]() The Medely - Each of those 5 songs are stellar gems...during each one I was just hoping they'd screw the medely and play that particular one in full.....LOL....
