Cats and death
I'm sure that some people here have read about the story in which there's a retirement home that has a certain cat, that has a talent of knowing when a person is going to die. When a person is within 4 to 6 hours of dying the cat will jump up on the persons bed and curl up with the person until he or she has passed. They say this cat has been able to forecast a persons demise over 28 times.

I thought it was interesting that they pointed out that this cat is not typically affectionate. He really only does this when death is approaching. They also said, when it happens, they immediately call the family to let them know. If they shut him out of the room, he paces and cries outside their door.
There are worse ways to die than with a kitty cat cuddled up next to you, helping you make the transition. |

Oscar the cat is a fluffy little fellow. I don't think I'd mind him curling up next to me on my way out.
I am unclear on one thing, though; are most of the people already pretty much one foot in the grave? Or has he ever sat near a fairly healthy patient, only to have that patient keel over. Then that would freak me out if he came near me. I think there is a cameo somewhere for Oscar in the upcoming film "The Cats Like Me Better." |

Yeah, maybe... but like MWC said: not if you're not really expecting it!

![]() So many nights I at least watch Jay Leno's monologue but I missed it last night. Heard that they did a spoof of the cat "in action". All you saw were the kitty paws in the camera shot as they closed around the throat of some elderly person. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Yeah. Sick. Totally sick. But funny as hell - even to me!
