Introducing Wolfric Heimdall von Vanto

Our new family member, aged 8 weeks. He is a German Shepherd, and will grow up to be a sweet bad-ass. He's got a rockin' dam and sire.

His name means "Wolf Ruler, Guardian of Gods, Son of Vanto". To maximize pretension, pronounce the W like a V. Apparently, they do that in the Fatherland.

Guardian of Gods was Julie's idea.

How sweet is that! It is always a blessing to have a new member to the family. (especially, when they are that cute)

Yep. I've heard that they are really mellow between ages 6 months to 18 months. I'm going to start him off easy, at first...guarding my shoes.

What a sweet face ... I've never owned a GS, but those that do, seem to stick with them.

Be firm (meaning YOU are the master) with that baby James, from the git go or he'll run right over ya! When I had Bailey in obedience class, BOTH shepards got kicked out....errr...were asked to leave because their owners couldn't control them. They started caring about their behavior (or MISbehavior) too late. Not that I should laugh but it was comical to watch one lady flat out lay on top of her dog to make him sit!

Good luck...he's a cutie!

Shammy, we start training next week. We're fired up about it. It's cool that the breeder/trainer is five minutes away. We're planning on taking it all the way. Julie has visions of ribbons dancing through her pretty head.

Ginger, keep your fingers crossed for us.

GSD's are such wonderful and smart dogs. Very loyal to their family and very protective..yet they are also very gentle. Unfortunately, they are misunderstood by many as being aggressive. Let him know YOU are the alpha right away!
Our Sophie is 9 weeks old now and training is going well. She's almost doubled in size! Time to start in earnest. She has the sit and shake thing that all puppies learn fairly quick. She has learned to walk with us now instead of sitting down and trying to wiggle out of her leash. Now starts the command training (heel, come, down etc).
Enjoy him James...he'll bring years of fun!
