Bill Walsh - RIP

Bill Walsh, the great coach of the San Francisco 49ers died earlier today. He was one of the greatest coaches in the NFL, and will be credited with introducing the west coast offence forever associated with the great 49ers teams from the 80's.
Bill Walsh, RIP...

He was a great coach! RIP Bill Walsh!

Bill Walsh Planted the coaching tree

Mike Holmgren. Mike White. Ray Rhodes. Sam Wyche. Bruce Coslet. George Seifert. Dennis Green. All of them were direct hires of Walsh.

All of them became NFL head coaches.

R.I.P. Mr Walsh...thanks for everything!

Even a short list of Walsh's adherents is stunning. Seifert, Mike Holmgren, Dennis Green, Sam Wyche, Ray Rhodes and Bruce Coslet all became NFL head coaches after serving on Walsh's San Francisco staffs, and Tony Dungy played for him. Most of his former assistants passed on Walsh's structures and strategies to a new generation of coaches, including Mike Shanahan, Jon Gruden, Brian Billick, Andy Reid, Pete Carroll, Gary Kubiak, Steve Mariucci and Jeff Fisher.

It is a shame, he has done so much to tranform football.
I don't know anything of his recent past, hopefully it was not horrible, but at least most of his 75 were good years.
RIP Bill, and thanks
