Oh, Maureen.......I'm so very sorry for your sadness.
What a special thing you are doing for Max and also for yourselves. You are making wonderful memories and doing the very best you can for your boy.

My thoughts are with you wishing you strength at this very difficult time.

Maureen and Max

Maureen - it's always so hard to say goodbye to someone you love so much. We will be thinking of you and sending good thoughts to you and your family for Max's peaceful transition to his new life. We'll light our Rainbow Bridge candle for him when the time comes. Gentle hugs to you for giving him a lovely life. This is tough stuff ... so sorry.

Andy - so sorry to hear about your illness. I'm glad you're feeling better, but take care of yourself and try not to over do. You have a loyal following here, and all of us worry about you. Jen, thank you for keeping us updated! I am also so sorry about Dulcie. How sad, but it's the circle of life.

Good to hear, too, that some of the doggies got adopted. That is great news and I hope more and more families are hearing about your shelter and will come there for a companion animal.

We are very happy to report that we got in a dear 12 yr old Scottie girl earlier in the month, who is going to her new home this weekend. Her new family is so excited to get her. The senior ones always get me - and she is no different. She is a sweet, funny, playful girl who hopefully has a few more good years in her. Now if we could just find a home for the mis-identified Scottie who is actually a Schnoodle! He is a great little guy.

Take care of yourself Andy and feel better.

I'm so sorry to hear about Dulce. It's very sad to lose any of the puppies, but look at how many are being saved.
Our dog recently was losing the use of her back legs periodically and it was found that she had a calcified disc which was pressing on her spine. The vet found it in an xray. She also got worse very fast. Unfortunately, it required an expensive surgery, but she's all better now. Any possibility the pup might have something pressing on her spine causing this?

We are taking our sweet Max( going on 14 years) on his last adventure this weekend. My husband & I are driving hinm out to Iowa
I ball my eyes out on this I can't get my brain around letting him go. We are taking him out to see the hunting fields he knows We are callng this Max's last Adventure. He always enjoyed the hotel room .....it always meant treats.......maybe he liked our voices playing trivial pursuit in the car....once he got into the field...that boy was his authentic self....and did he sure know his job....pointing a pheasant ...whatever... I want him to have a good send off. . It's just the send off we think we think he would like us to do for him. . .I don't think it's right to post a photo, Max is rather frail & am much too emtional at the moment. When we return, our vet, a good friend will give us his final goodbye. Max is my beautiful little boy that I was so lucky to have at 8 years old. These were six great years!
Awww. Maureen...(((hugs))). Your plans for Max are so beautiful. You are such a wonderful person to plan something special for your Max. This is a very meaningful way to honor him by doing something that he loved to do.
