What is the AFC Forum? ....I'm curious. By the way we named on of the Mama dogs, pups Francie (after St. Francis as you suggested for Mama). She was adopted the very next day! I like to think your naming & good thoughts had a lot to do with that! Mama was named something else & it's a long story, but for a very good reason. She still feeding & cleaning the little 10 day old pups like they were her own. All is good!! |

What a wonderful question! Diego has been so good to us & to the animals at the Shelter! Andy spoke to Diego about his needs. His response is that he would love it if people could bring him Veterinarian medical books (English is OK). Perhaps folk could ask there Vet about donating used books. Thanks for thinking of Dr. Diego! Maureen |

I stopped in at my Vet's office today to pick up serum seperator's for the shelter, and they gave me some books. I have Veterinary procedures and Emergency treatment, Veterinary Clinical Parasitology, and The 5 minute Veterinary Consultant. All of the books are older, but are copies of books that are still used in my Vet's office. I hope Diego or Andy can use these.

When I was at my vet's office a couple of weeks ago to pick up dog food I told the receptionist about the shelter and asked about donations. She asked me to write a note to the vet. I included the website and wrote down some of the supplies they needed. Also, noted that I sponsor a dog at the shelter. I haven't heard anything back!
![]() My question...... how did those of you that were successful in getting donations ask for them? Did you talk directly to the vet or send an email? I can't find an email address so I was thinking of sending a letter with a list of the items needed, the website, and some more details. Any other suggestions for me? I want to be able to bring down donated supplies too! |

In my case the vet is going to have her baby in April, so it was donate or else!,
, I just thought it wouldn't hurt to ask and indeed her books have been in the attic for the past 5 years so she seemed to like the idea. I didn't ask about meds or supplies because a) I don't want to transport meds and B) she doesn't own the animal hospital she works at. So I think asking the vet directly might get better results then a receptionist.

Hi All,
I have a letter written to Vets in the US that you can copy, paste & print. I hope to get it typed up & posted later today. I think it will be more comfortable for everyone to have something in writing when they approach their vets. It's written, but not typed up. I promise to get it posted this afternoon or tomorrow morning at the latest. I need to get over to the Dog Wash...running late as usual!!! Maureen |
