Hi All,
I plan to write the complaint letter to American Airlines tomorrow. I will share the letter. I will include the email address to AA's Complaint Dept. for those of you may want to write an additional complaint. Today is a busy day......Dog Wash, the Peep Meet at Bad Boyz and then then Jan's Jewelry & Purse Sale. It will be good to let the frustration go for a day. Liz & I had a good chat on the phone last night. We are both bound & determined to get George home one way or another. I'll keep you updated. Maureen |

It has been a bad week or so for us at the shelter, we lost some puppies due to a very bad case of hookworm which sadly had already done so much damage that the meds were unable to help them, Bambi (despite a whole barage of tests) has a strange skin condition that continues to baffle the vet and has now had a biopsy for which we will have to wait a week for the results, the "new " house/shelter location appears to have fallen thru (we should have been in before christmas, then New Year, them my birthday now they say april, may) and then the sad saga of George's non trip to his new home with Liz in the US, it has all been very frustrating.
The pompous manager at AA had decided that on no account would he let George fly and no amount of begging was going to change his mind , even after he had recieved authorisation from head office by phone and mail !,he was a very arrogant and quite unpleasant man and in the end he based his descision that it was too cold in New York, even tho the temp had risen from 39 to 43 in the time we were trying to sort it out and we both knew that by the time he flew the temp would have risen to above the required, but he was not going to change his mind. So very sorry Liz that we couldnt get him to you but we will find a way !! |

Hopefully, things can only go up from here. I give you all so much credit for all you are doing. I have no doubt that George will find his home with Liz soon.

Dog Wash & Jan's Jewelry Sale Photos
Hi All,
Yesterday's Dog Wash was a bunch of fun & a bit of work washing 20 squirmy puppies & dogs. It was a busy day for Andy, Jen & the Shelter's Volunteer Staff. On board to help wash were Laura, Marissa, Caroline, Claire & our newest volunter Bernie. Bernie has been tremendously helpful to the Shelter & is an awful lot of fun too! ![]() Laura, our Cat Caretaker with one of the little kittens available for adoption. ![]() Laura with Simba. ![]() Catching up on this week's difficult events & sharing ideas. ![]() Marissa with her baby Karma. ![]() Washing Trina and ?.....Trina will be having her deformed leg amputated as soon as she is completely healthy. She is an incredibly happy dog in spite of her handicap & her hard life! ![]() Beautiful Vero ![]() Sweet Luna ![]() Bernie drying Trina. Jen has nicknamed her Trina Tripod since she can only use three legs. ![]() Claire & Laura with Thed......named after Thed from La Rana who helped me yesterday when I was in the middle of the American Airlines debacle. Thank you Thed!!! ![]() Jen with Bambi. In spite of her health issues, Bambi is quite playful. ![]() Jan (mynameis jan) selling her lovely jewerly. ![]() Marissa, Bernie & Jen. Vic you did a marvelous job organizing your Peep Meet! What a good time!! ![]() Mark, my Joe, Bernie & Taunya. Taunya was a lot of help promoting the Jewelry Sale by passing out flyers. Thanks Taunya!! ![]() Taunya with Steve Ballmer's Yacht (with helicopter) in the background. We surmised that the smaller yacht is for the Staff. ![]() Kathleen bought one of Jan's beautiful pieces. This bracelet was totally "her"!! ![]() Vic (Great Lakes) & Eric (Bluespicker, Jan's husband & a fabulous musician) ![]() Andy with puppy Dita. The people who had brought her to the Shelter had named her Gordita. We changed it to Dita.....what girl wants to have "fat" as her name!!! ![]() Brigite with her new baby, Sissy. Lots of locals brought their dogs to this event. ![]() Jan & I celebrating & showing off our jar full of donations. Thanks to all the generous Peeps we raised $600 for the Shelter. This does not include the profits from the Tshirts & calendars that Laura tirelessly sold all day. I'll update this thread with that amount later today. ![]() Vic......the "Host with the Most" ![]() We then moved on to the Beer Bucket Jewely Sale. We had quite a few last minute sales at the end of the evening (Thanks Kat!!). She did some very early Christmas shopping. Pictured are Marissa, Erik & Jan. It was an incredibly busy, fun day! Thanks everyone for your support, your generousity & for the FUN!!! Maureen Last edited by maureena5; 02-10-2008 at 12:24 PM.. |

not to take away from Andy and Jen's thread, but I have some news that is very sad as well
my precious Lucy, my 3 year old chocolate lab was killed by a car Friday night.... I am devastated and cannot function at this point, but wanted everyone to know that Pogo will not be coming to Pennsylvania to live with us.... at this time, I cannot imagine losing another animal that becomes a part of me....I still have Cody, our 6 1/2 year old male lab that has auto immune disorder and has cost us over 11,000 dollars so far in his medical care...he is so sad .....he lost his best friend.....he keeps looking for her in the house I may change my mind at a later date, but at this point, I just cannot bring another pet into my life......Chuck and I have had 3 fur babies die within our 15 years together and I can't deal with this pain again..it hurts so bad, I can't describe it. I have sent an email to Andy and he knows of this, but I will continue to support his efforts and Pogo until I can't financially do it anymore..... so if anyone knows of someone who may give Pogo a good home, please let Andy know ......... |

Dear Loree,
I am so sorry to hear of the tragic death of your beloved Lucy! I am so very, very sorry. May your memories of her beautiful life with you comfort her. Keep reminding yourself of all the good times she had with you and all the love she was showered with. I completely understand that you would not want to adopt Pogo at this time. Your heart is fragile & you need time to greive. Take care & know we are all here for you. Maureen |
