Canned pumpkin is great, too.
I wrote down every single symptom (like the lunatic that I am) - but it made me feel better knowing I was giving the vet every last ounce of information. Please keep us posted and I hope the pup feels better soon. |

Actually I saw your bit about the EPI and that is one reason I thought to post here. But I can say she is not underweight. If anything we worry she may start to resemble a pot belly piglet if she ever slows down.
We are so appreciative of everyone's suggestions. started last night with the boiled chicken will try that for a few days and also some of the other great ideas... Part of the issue is she is a cuddle bug - and some times she will be snuggled up close to you and then let loose and ooooh your eyes water - course she has not idea what we are laughing about. |

All this talk about flatulence
I have to say, this is pretty much normal in Bulldogs... we just deal with varying levels, from eye watering to room clearing. We did have one that I would say had an occasional 'sour tummy' and I used to give her something similar to pepto but in a tablet form. She was already on a chicken only diet, just a tad spoiled. If she got really uncomfortable and showing signs of being unwell, I would give her about a tablespoon of brandy in some warm milk (60 lb dog) and she would sleep for about 8 to 10 hours and wake up feeling much better. The vet never really had anything to add other than to try an antacid but he used to just roll his eyes at the brandy....whatever works. I only used it when she was really bad! She had her own bottle..... she wasn't overly fond of gripe water, I had tried that first. I thought if it works for babies, it should work for her and I think there might be some alcohol in that stuff. |

About Maya Alux(what a cute name!) sounds like she might be, um, how to put this politely?, suffering from either protozoa or parasites... Shortly after we got Tommy, our older dog developed those same symptoms. Really stinky, gas, very rumbly tummy; of course this progressed to diarrhea after a while. So we took "fecal samples" from both dogs to the vets and turned out our old girl had protozoa that very commonly occurs in puppies. Tom was fine, so our vet's theory was that, although he may have passed the protozoa to her, his system had rid itself of them. PS: We have had no fights at feeding time since I followed all of your good advice and set Tom straight if he so much as cocked an ear or curled a lip. Thanks! Poor Tom just wants to be alpha over somebody. He is now unsuccessfully vying for Ally's seat on the couch where she does homework and watches tv-pretty funny to watch actually, kinda like canine musical chairs. He spends his time poised to leap into her place at a moments notice. She toys with him by pretending she's getting up and then sitting on him. ![]() ![]()

Hi Lydia, firstly thank you so much for adding us to your website, Tasha's story is just fantastic (gracias Jan).
As to the belly probs, Vieve has a point, there are numerous parasites down here that can get into a dogs belly, some of which can give those symtoms, take him to your vet and a simple poo smear will identify if this is the case anda small treatment should sort your pup out no problem ![]() Troy had his op yesterday so he is now sin huevos so that just leaves three young females and we are then up to date with our spay/neuters, slight problem is that all three (Trina, Bambi and Misha ) all came into season within 2 days, talk about females being in sync but with no "active" males at the shelter now its not a big concern.Hopefully some big and fantastic news on the new improved Pet Shelter coming soon .Gracias Todo

Karma is fine, she has settled in and is showing her naughty side but has also realised she is not top dog and has been (gently) put in her place by a couple of the other dogs, she has also formed an adoring attachment to Candy and much to Candy's annoyance follows her everywhere, its quite funny to see little Candy telling her off, Karma is fine , eating and playing like the rest of the pups
