However i have had an idea about finding business's to "sponsor" a kennel, where they could donate us a sum to build a pen and we would hand a large signn telling everyone who they are and whatever other details they wish to include, this would help them in raising thier profile as a caring and giving company .
We are planning on building between 15 and 20 large pens (approx 10ft x 8ft).
So if anyone knows of a business that may be interested (either here in Mexico or outside the country) please let me know.
Thank you.
what a great idea, Andy. I know our local SPCA here in Edmonton does just that - it costs $500 per year to sponsor a kennel, and it is done by businesses and private citizens.

Hi Laura, we were hoping to get a sponsorship per pen of around $500 usd although we know that other shelters ask up to $1000 usd, obviously the more we get the easier it will be for us to do the whole project and get opened sooner

We just had a flying visit from some friends who brought us down a great supply of meds from thier vet and some tick n flea meds, the dogs all enjoyed the visit especially Pogo who got to meet his E-mom.
Spud showed himself up by getting caugh on camera in an embarrasing position with Misha (even tho he has been done for over a year and a half!!)
Misha was along with Trina and Bambi were all due to get spayed but they all came into season within 2 days of each other so we will now have to wait a little while to get them operated.
Luckily all the boys are sin huevos so no puppies on the horizon

I'm off to Curacao tomorrow.
Have a great week everyone.
I'll catch up on all things Peanut Pet Shelter when I get back.
Hugs and give my love to Thor (and all of the pups)

Hasta luego!

By the way...is this common?

I left Karma (in the loving care of Jen & Andy) for two weeks as I had to return to the states. She is happily back home once again the ONLY princess in our house (I was de-throned the day she walked thru my door).

NOW she won't let me leave the house without her. I have to literally hold her back as she runs for the door the minute I pick up keys or my purse. Normally a few treats keeps her well occupied and I can leave with no problems.

When will she start TRUSTING me again??? Any thoughts??

Yeah, could be 2, 3, or 4 days until she settles down a bit. Mine are always a little high strung when they get back from the kennel for a few days, even if we have only been gone for a long weekend. In fact, my beagle will actually begin to yelp like he has been mortally wounded (the only time he makes that particular noise and throw himself at my feet when I get back to pick him up, and one of my coonhounds comes crawling to me on her belly......they are all different, but most of them don't like being left! She should settle down to the routine in a few days

You must be glad to be home!

OMG, my Beagle does that!! She does it if we've been gone awhile, and when friends or relatives come over who she doesn't see every day. Everyone thinks it's so funny!
