I want to say...again...what a GREAT turnout dogwash was this past Saturday!!! Thank you all for showing and taking the time out of your vacations to do this! And again...fund raising at Bad Boyz was amazing!!!! I huge thanks for all of you that bought jewelry to help out the pups!

on a side note...I washed my cute sponsor dog Luna *avatar pic* and she was none too happy with me afterwards....she was pissed and gave me the dirtiest look afterwards....kinda funny though!

Andy- You are so very welcome for the T shirts, we all hope you liked them and that they sell well! I want to thank everyone who joined me in the effort to donate them to the shelter. The generous peeps who donated cash were: Lolabella, Myself, LIZLEWIS42, Silvergirl, buggirl, shamrock0421 and Vieve. Bless you all! And thanks to the mules who made it happen: StewartG, Lolabella, jeffandbecky and buggirl. I would love to see this become a yearly fundraiser, so don't be surprised all you peeps out there if you get a PM from me next year to see if you want to join in! Maybe they will become collectors items like Bumper's pins

Another friendly reminder to CLICK DAILY (or 10x daily) to help feed the shelter pets. It's free.
If you haven't seen it - they offer a "reminder". Enter your email and every morning when you log on, there will be a reminder waiting for you. A couple of clicks and you've fed some deserving pups.
Also, there's a great rescue story on the page. It changes daily. It's a great inspiration to me reading them first thing in the morning.
Hugs to all of you and your pets,
Lori

Doggie Wash May 10

We have some photos from last Saturday. Only a few since we were busy washing and drying. I'll put up some here in a bit, still getting un-packed and cleaning up the mess our cats made!!!!

We had a blast at the Doggie Wash and thanks to Doggiemom for inviting us and Andy and Jen for having us over.

Now which once will make it to my Avatar.....Candy?

Maybe when the new shelter is done, Andy could make a small "retail" spot somewhere that peeps attending the doggie wash could see the shirts for sale. You never know......some peeps may get really wet and need a clean shirt! This could be an ongoing endeavor!

My ankle is sporting a very beautiful new bracelet that Linda made! Nick has a nice new pet shelter t shirt! Was Moms last day on Sat & we knew there would be loads of people at the wash so we are going to go to the one this Saturday! I am really looking forward to it!

Last night on a walk on 5th we came across a group of homeless skinny little kittys that had my 7 year old in tears. Andy & Jen I cannot tell you enough how wonderful you are! See you tonight!

Yippee skippee, Tasha is officially done with all her testing!!!! Her liver biopsy results are in and it's not bad. She has micro vascular dysplasia. I don't really understand what it is, just that it isn't posing a threat to her health. It has something to do with the small veins inside her liver that aren't really doing what they should It is a genetic disease very common in smaller breeds of dogs. Tasha has no symptoms from it, and dogs that show no symptoms rarely experience problems as a result of MVD. The diagnosis from our vet is that Tasha should enjoy a long and healthy life as long as she has medicine for her pancreas. Erik and I are so thankful for all the help we got from our vets, and to Andy and Jen for saving Tasha's life so we could adopt her. Now we can stop worrying, and get on with enjoying the little clown.

I'm glad Tasha is going to be ok, but I was wondering, did you have blood tests done on her? and if so do you know what her ALT levels were? My chi Bear has been having liver problems, twice now her ALT levels were extremely high(1st was 1081. and this 2nd time theyre at 881.) normal is 10. to 100.. I went and read up on what you said Tasha has and it sounds alot like what I'm dealing w/ here. I was just wanting to know if this may be what she has, so Tashas levels would be interesting to know. thanks!!!

Tasha has had her levels checked 4 times. Her highest was a bit over 900. Her exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency was a huge part of that. Her levels are still a bit high, but that is from the Micro Vascular Dysplasia, and won't hurt her. Other symptoms to look for with EPI are rumbling tummy, really stinky gas, loose greasy poop amd dramatic weight loss. Symptoms for MVD are vomiting, runny poo, confusion.

Thanks so much for the info, it helps to know all I can, bear is due to be tested again sometime this week(we dont know her normal level because shes never been tested while she wasnt having problems) but the vet said if they are still high like theyve been they want to do exploritory surgery and a biopsy, which scares the heck outta me. as for the symtoms you show bear only has the runny poo, shes actually 4 lbs overweight which we're working on. I was thinking along the lines of the MVD over the EPI. but thank you again for the more in depth info

My friend and fellow blogger, Wayne from Isla Mujeres, attended last Saturday's dog wash with me and wrote up a blog about it here. Enjoy!
