I haven't told the worst part yet.
When we got back, I saw what I think was the momma dog looking for her lost baby...she was running frantically from the trailer, to the fence of the house next door, and all around the area, sniffing and barking as if she was calling for her baby. She was a hungry, scruffy street dog who seemed to have an injured rear right leg.![]() ![]() So that means there are probably other puppies somewhere in the area, perhaps in the back wooded area behind my house. I'm afraid to go looking for them, and I feel just terrible about the mama dog looking for her baby. |

Oh Heather! Junebug is so incredibly lucky that you and Michael have found and rescued her!!
I know its tough thinking that there are others out there and, of course, we want to save them all. But, just know you have placed Junebug in some very loving hands. She is going to bring joy to a family who in turn will just love on her!! Feel good about this Baybe, okay? ![]() |

I know its heartbreaking Heather...as Mother Teresa always said, we are a drop in the ocean...and its true, we cannot change the world, but you have changed the world for this pup....she has a chance now.
. Few days ago I was at a party, and we were throwing the meat to a street dog, with 5 pups, from the balcony. Next thing I see is one of the pups dead on the street, a car had run him over , I felt so bad beacuse he was only looking to feed himself, looking for some scrapes in the street...I felt so guilty we took the poor little body and put him on the side of the street. The mom was sniffing all over the spot where was his blood. I had to leave the party. .And I keep seeing the white dog that has the rope tight around his neck, the same one that e always try to catch to free him ( andy has tried so many times). Last night I was walking rosie and he was just by my house....scraping too for some food to save himself...or for water...he is alike a gjost, as he appears, he vanishes...every time I see him I feel SO SAD, helpless. he must have a terribel life, the rope is so tight he has blisters all over hi neck. These stories, and you saving the one pup, Heather, make Andy and Jen REAL angels, thank you again to them for taking out of this misery so many dogs. There are many more out there, but they ARE the drop in the ocean that is making a difference here in Playa. Please come to the market, we will abe tehre all day, all goes to the dogs, lets give more dogs a chance. ![]() |

Please if anyone is thinking of taking a dog as companion, don't buy one...there are so many that are ready to be by your side, waiting for you with hope at the shelter.....
![]() ![]() Few people know but Andy is one of the few people that regularly goes to la perrera every week and see which dogs he can take away, so that they will not be sacrificied. It takes GUTS to go there. His love for these animals is HUGE. |

Forgive me, Rick, for stealing your photo from the other thread, but THIS is Junebug, the puppy Michael and I "rescued" yesterday!! I just saw Tommygurl at Bad Boys and she said her daughter, Emily, just fell in LOVE with the lil girl and that if they weren't leaving so soon (and if they had a longer layover to give time to get the pup thru customs), they'd have taken her home with them. I would have just LOVED to see that dog go home with such an amazingly loving family.
![]() In any case, Melissa let me know that they plan to e-dopt Junebug until she finds a home. *swoon* now I love Tommygurl even more. ![]() |
