Andy, I am attempting to secure supplies and donations from the local vet clinics. One of them suggested a small poster advertising the shelter, and spelling out the supplies needed.

Do you, or any of our supporters have any such thing on file, that they could send to me? I am afraid I am not very creative, and am having trouble coming up with an effective poster.

Any help from any of you would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

James

Hey JR,

Thanks so much for your support for the Shelter!! I can put something together for you, but can you bear with me for a few days? My internet/computer in Playa has over-heated ...go figure. I'll put something together for you within the week. Thank you so much for your motivation to help us!!! It is truly appreciated!! I'll be in touch & will send an attachment you can print.
Take care,
Maureen

Okay, so it's taken ages, but this is my first reply POST-arrival in Playa.
Anyways, upon the request of my mother (Jen) and on behalf of Andy, I'm writing up this quick update. As many of you know, there has been a swine of a stomach-bug been going around that has struck a lot of us, myself Jen and Andy included.
This is why I'm writing this, for the past few days Andy has been suffering from the same thing that has hit us. Although he's on the mend now after evacuating a lot of liquids from his body (eww) he's still a little tender at the moment.
Give is a day or so and he'll be back up and good to go again.
Shelter-wise, things are lurching forward againand should be picking up significant momentum. The reason being that as of yeterday afternoon part of the wall of our front yard was finally knocked through to the new area beside the shelter and now the dogs have free access to it. Yay!!
We finally have a little more breathing room. The dogs love the new place, digging and scrabbling their way through the over-growth and sniffing around the debris, not to mention the room to run around in.
Come next saturady, I'm sure all you folks coming to the dog-wash will get the guided tour. Not that there's much to see right now, but it is fun to watch the dogs run around.
Other than this more immediate news, we've had a few more additions to the shelter in the shape of Phoebe a young bitch and a mother and her 5 4-day-old puppies.
And I think that's about it. The sun is beating down on me like crazy, I haven't eaten much today and the last thing I had to eat or drink last night was Mezcal and fried crickets.
Take care for now!

Dog Wash Photos from last week

Hi All,

Sorry I didn't get these posted sooner. My computer was messed up.

Lovely Phyllis with Marina (I think?)

LauraB (Hotel La Tortuga) with one of the baby Dobermans

Laura's adorable daughter, Emma with one of the new pups!

One more of sweet Emma with a pup.

Ginger/Leasa's daughter Kelsey with a pup

Andy & Jen.....a very rare moment of them standing still at Dog Wash Day. They work so, so hard everyday!!!

Ginger/Leasa's son Jordon cuddling a pup.....such a great kid!

Jen's son Adam with Freddie. Freddie is just visiting the Shelter while his owners Jim & Janet (wonderful supporters of the Shelter) are out of town. It's a blast having Freddie back. He makes everyone smile & laugh!! Especially, when he rolls around after his bath!

Mimi & Courtney (gosh darn I hope I have your name correctt this time!!) She & her guy are also wonderful supporters of the Shelter!!

Dog washers working hard

What a sweet moment!

Cute little babies!

Doing a great drying job! The pups love getting dryed....it's great snuggling for them!

Sweet Honey

Im back
Its been a rough week for me, had this damn awful stomach bug going around and had sooooo much to catch up on workwise after i recovered i just have not had time to get on the internet and post.
Firstly... Thank you again to everyone who joined in with the raffle and helped make it so successful, we raised an awful lot of money to build the shelter, some of which we will have to use to get the lot cleared completely and of course costs always go up but we are making great progress, it is amazing to finally see our dream coming true and qwe couldnt have done any of it without your generous help. so again i say thank you .
Arrivals and departures.....
We have made a couple of rehomings recently, firstly sweet little Sandy who has made a trip northward and is now a citizen of the USA and also puppy Mel was adopted by a Brazilian girl living here in Playa, she may be coming back for Negrita soon when she moves into her new house with a garden. Thed may soon be going to a new home to live with Ellie and Osa ..
We have had some new arrivals too (my camera is playing up but i will post pics soon )
We had another mom and babies arrive mid-week, the five new borns are huge and very healthy (as are both the other litters we have here) we also took in five new young pups this week two of which are a bit sick as they came from the pererra and are very underfed and weak.
Sushi is currently living at Maureens as Jez who was looking after her had to move to a no-pet apartment but hopefully she will be able to move back with us when the shelter is finished.
Ok i think thats about it for now i will get some pics up soon.\Thank you for your patience
