best thing of course would be for this service to be mostly for people who would otherwise not have the money to take their animals to the vet....so that all the time and efforts would be used to animals that really need this...

VIDAS: International Veterinarians Dedicated to Animal Health, Animal Advocacy, Animal Welfare Services, Animal Disease Research, & Animal Welfare Education

Sure, not all pets need to go...but those who are not yet sterilized can have it done for free due to the generosity of these vets! Also, the vets, I'm told, will help treat additional problems if needed.

Playa's own Sherry Stevens coordinates this project every year for the residents of the Mayan Riviera. It's a wonderful wonderful project and the vets work so hard to educate the local people on pet care.

Also, if you are spare room or condo or place for the vets to stay please contact Vidas and let them know. If you want to volunteer let them know too!
They do great great work and we are so lucky to have them here!

Of course, that was the point. Its for the Pet Shelter Dogs as a gift from Sherry. But the MAIN PURPOSE is for the local Mexican families to have the opportunity to spay/neuter their pets and learn about pet care from the various Vets.

It is my understanding that if someone who can afford to pay but chooses to take their pet there, a donation (generous I hope) is happily accepted.

My email was to request that people possibly volunteer their time to the clinic.

And to thank all the Vets in advance for offering to donate their time/services to the Peanut Pet Sheter.

But I know you know that Anna. Thanks for pointing out something obvious -that I forgot to mention it.

I will def be trying to get some of our pooches to the vidas clinic, we have around 30 that are needing thier ops , we are getting thru them slowly (Marina had her op yesterday in preparation for her adoption, she will be travelling south to near Chetumal very soon ) but thanks to Nacer we have the money to get some of these done.
We were abkle to re-home three puppies yesterday (after i was 100% sure they were going to good homes) so the adoption side is going well.
The shelter is really coming on and we will very soon be putting it to use
I will (if all goes to plan, Thank you Vanessa ) have a camera today so i can start posting loads of pics for you all

I have had the pleasure of volunteering with VIDAS on several occasions in Akumal, Chemuyil, Playa, Coba, Bacalar, Tulum and P.M. and did their website for year I can first hand say they rock!!! Glad to see everyone networking and helping the dogs.

Remember to send me information for Sac-be.com so I can help get the word out and promote the Shelter and clinics etc. I am a softy for the street dogs and cats!!!
