well the dog adoptions may have slowed slightly but our feline guests are certainly popular just now, two kitten adoptions early on in the week and then today 3 more !!.
A young couple called this morning, they had been looking to adopt a kitten for a while with no luck and someone passed our contact details to them, they came and fell in love with two of the little ones, one tabby and the other a black and white, then an hour later they returned with the guys sister who was also interested in adopting she too left with a kitten, i just hope the trend continues

Fantastic adoption news!!!
Harley is such a cutie as is Luna (and Yes I too love Lunytoons!)  Duck, I am glad Taco made it through his surgery with flying colors. Beth, we found an inexpensive 'throw' rug at Walmart. This is going to sound VERY odd, but it is 8x10 and was folded up in a comforter-like bag with handles. I think it was 69.99. We have had it a couple of weeks in our living room and it is pretty thin, but works well for what it is intended (keeping Riley from skating...and keeping our furniture in place when he rubs all over it  ). It did take about a week or so for the folds to relax out, but a couple of vaccums and it was good. We are all about the inexpensive area rugs, we consider them disposable with Riles!

Just sold my brother in law who is here visiting from Canada a bag of food!!!
I will try to get him to commit to a few more after he drinks more beer!!! Linda all checks will be in the mail Monday!! Total so far 7!!!

The rain appears to have stopped, now the clean up..i had all of the dogs in the house last night because of the storm, you can imagine the mess
 and talking of mess.. the shelter is going to take some elbow grease this morning...The vets and students , all 25 will be arriving at the house at 9am tomorrow (they plan on returning tues and weds) the students are going to be split into pairs and each will be given a dog, they will then give each dog a full check up including, bathing, skin scraping and poop test to look for parasites etc, they will also be taking blood samples, and then each pair will assist the Cornell proffesor in the spay or neuter.. its going to be a long few days but hopefully a great experience for the students and for Peanuts. The plan is to run similar clinics at least 4 times a year giving many vets to be valuable experience and helping us with our spay and neuter programme. On thursday the dogs from Akumal will start arriving which will push an already full shelter to its limits and we should also be recieving 5 young cats also from Akumal sometime this week. Dont forget the latest holiday give/away is still running and this one is open to anyone , anywhere in the world, with the possibility of a one week stay at the beautiful Luna Blue, airport transfers and $1000usd towards the flights, all for the price of a bag of food, |

Boy, have I missed alot! We have a houseful of family visiting until the 4th, not much time to spare
Duck....so glad Taco is doing good! Can't wait t meet him. Luna is BEAUTIFUL!!! Andy & Jen.....sounds like the shelter is going to be a very busy place, but what a good kind of busy Trish....nothing like a pre-spoiled pup  Sorry if I missed anyone.....time to make breakfast for the bunch here, but of course, I'v already done my voting!! |
