Ok so we have good days and bad days here at the shelter (tho more good than bad) and today started of great, a guy came up from Akumal where he has a "private" secluded beachfront lot to take big Teddy home with him, we couldnt have asked for a better home for the big bear, the guy already has a big golden , a female about Teddy`s age and just as loving and he also has a son that spends all of his free time on the beach and in the sea with the dog, yaay for Teddy
![]() Then it went downhill ... we had a call from a young lady who`s neighbour had two dogs a Cocker Spaniel and a Poodle but she was only feeding them scraps and they got thier water from puddles, when she asked her nieghbour about them she was told "you want them , take them, i have a new dog now so these can go on the street!", so i of course told the girl we would take them in and went round, the first thing i noticed was the smell, it was stomach churning and it was coming from the dogs, they were covered in urine and faeces , and the spaniel had huge ticks on his head, but of the two the poodle was the worse, his coat was so matted it looked like dreadlocks and it was thick with filth !!, i took them both straight round to the vets where they will get a medicated bath and their coats clipped etc, they are lovely dogs but older ones both around 5 years old.I took a couple of before pics but they in no way show the poor state these two were in. Pip FredBut then it got worse , ...we had some tests done on Jody as she was looking a bit down and not eating as much and we got the results today while we were at the vets, it turns out that she has TVT which is tumor which is passed on just like a STD in humans , the only real successful treatment is expensive chemotherapy but we have been told that she has an excellent chance for full recovery, so we will be making arrangments to get her stated on it straight away.We first came across TVT`s with one of the first rescue dogs Angel (Bernie and Tommy`s mother) who after treatment was completely cured. Sorry to sound all doom and gloom, but from the high of the auction to the low of today its been a little draining..... promise i will be back to my normal bouncy and sometime sarcsatic self tomorrow
