The Peanut Pet Shelter & Kennel - In Playa del Carmen!
![]() The Peanut Pet Shelter & Kennel contact info: Located in the Ejido Andy-984.116.7701 Jen-984.127.1675 email- a.mac@btinternet.com Current Animals in house: 15 dogs 7 cats Current Shelter Standings: 12 kennels with another 7 planned 2 Quarantine kennels in process of being built for those animals that have special needs! Needs: Worm Medication Flea & Tic Medication dog Food Money for Shots Money for Spaying & Neutering Money for expanding the Shelter Education Programs and Information for the Local pet owners Collars, Leashes, and Toys The Peanut Pet Shelter & kennel Goals: "Our goal is to find a good home and owner for each pet that we rescue from the streets. We rescue these animals and take them to the Vet for treatment and to have them Spayed & Neutered, We take the animals in and care for them while they are healing and waiting for adoption. We feel like it is a huge goal to wish for a safe and healthy home for each of these animals but if we aim high we may succeed! We would like to expand the Shelter to help as many of these animals as we can and we need the funds to make that happen, We are a "NO KILL" shelter so we know most of the Female Animals that are not pups and Kittens will never be adopted and we can accept that and we want to have enough room for them to live their simple lives in peace and happiness, Most of the Dogs that we rescue have been treated in the worst ways, hit by cars and many other nasty things. It is very sad to find a dog with a broken neck, leg or one that has been hit with a Machete. We have seen some really bad things with the animals, There are packs of Dogs that are not at the shelter that we feed on a regular basis as it does no good to bring them to the shelter, these dogs are older and are set in there ways, they just want to eat and are very scared around Humans. Most of the local population who own pets do not have the means or funds to have there Dog Spayed or Neutered and they do not have the education of being a good Animal Owner, We would like to start an education program for the local people so that it may save one more Animal each day! We survive on Donations and volunteers who put in their time and energy to helping the animals and it is a tough situation when you are working 24 hours a day and always on call to rescue that next animal who is in severe need of treatment! But we know it is for a good cause and that we are making progress each day!"- Andy Adoption Story: Vieve a playa.info peep adopted a street dog named Tommy (yes named after me Andy tells me)and took it home to the states for her Daughter Ally (who you see holding some pups in the pics)Its peeps Like Vieve that help make The Peanut Shelter & Kennel Possible. I had the pleasure of Meeting Vieve and Her Family and they are really nice folks who I think may be taking another dog home with them. If you would like to adopt a dog I am sure she can help you with info on how to get it home with you! Adopt a pet online Program: (New) As of now we are looking for those people that can not bring a pet home with them to adopt it through our New online Adoption program. You simply pick the Animal that you want to Adopt and make a small donation of your choice each month and you will receive monthly status reports on health issues as well as photographs of your animal, You can even take your pet with you when you arrive here on Vacation, take them for a walk into town, down the beach or just around the block! You decide how much interaction you would like to have, and if you dont want any well that is no problem! The Donation that you make each month will go towards the animals Vet bills, Food, Water, and Medication. Donations: All donations go to the care of the animals as well as expansion projects to house more animals in need! Feel free to bring any pet Meds that you may have for Donations as well as any Animal type products! The Peanut Pet Shelter and Kennels: Can also house and care for your animal while you leave town if you live here, they will care for your animal while you are away on vacation or business! Contact us by phone or email for more info on this program! Andy will be telling the Animals story from here on out as he and Jen know them all to well!!! I would like to add that there are no Money Making Attitudes here with Andy & Jen as they are simply trying to help as many animals as they can on very limited funds, These are fantastic people that I have the privilege of calling friends and I hope we can all help the Shelter keep doing what it does, Saving animals from the streets that are in serious need!! Here are some pictures of the Shelter and some of the Many Dogs that reside there! We are now taking Donations or Online Adoptions through PayPal!!! Bravo
(edit: I took the Andy's personal email address off so he won't be slammed with spam)
Is this the email address to make a donation to PayPal? What a bunch of fabulous sweethearts. ![]() I commend you for taking this on. Andy and Jen, you will have a never-ending source of entertainment and heartache. It is so worth it, though. When someone's heart connects with one of the animals ... the rest is magic. |

Great job guys.
![]() ![]() I am going to talk to a fellow dance mom here who is also a vet, as well as MY vet and see what I can do about getting some stuff donated. We are planning a trip down in probably February, perhaps I can work on bringing a suitcase or two of stuff for the animals. Andy (or Tommy) do you have a website for the kennel? It would probably be helpful if you had a place where you could list the pets for adoption, their names, a description, etc. for people to read and you could update it, ya' know? I think it would be also helpful as a place of reference to send people to whom you were soliciting donations from (let me know if I could help you at all in that regard, pro bono, of course.) |

Tommy thank you so much for doing this for us, we had really time at the photoshoot, especially when Vieve and the kids showed up, the pups all had a wonderful time and really enjoyed all of the attention, the kids were all lovely and spent time with all of the dogs, and the resulting photo`s are just beautiful
![]() .Hi Ginger, yes we have a website being built for us as a gift by the lovely Libby and John which we hope not only to show the pups and kittens for adoption but also allow animal lovers and owners to chat and discuss pet topics (and other stuff ), .We are situated in the Ejido but as we may from time to time be looking after peoples pets to raise money for the shelter and as there has been a spate of pet thefts here in Playa for that reason we have decided to keep our address away from the general public but i am more than happy to pm it to you if requested .. |

hmmmmm ! well if this "hypothetical family" were to overrule the "hypothetical father" its quite easy to take the "hypothetical pup" to the US, Vieve who is on the forum did just that with Bernies brother Tommy, all we needed was an up to date vaccination card howing the rabies shot etc and a health certificate which our vet Paco will do.....so it very straightforward to take "hypothetical pups" to America
