I quit a year ago in September. (almost a year ago)
I gained about 15 pounds and I feel so much better................I can relate to the drinking thing that is associated with smoking...............I had to not drink for the first 6 - 8 weeks after quitting smoking.........they go together like peas and carrots ![]() I, like Monte, liked saying the number of days out loud as well.........it just showed progress ![]() trust me, you will stink if you smoke.....especially to ex smokers my boyfriend smokes 3 packs a day....he usually smells like an ash tray...every time he bitches about my shopping, I remind him how much he spends on cigarettes and beer................I said I'd quit shopping when he quits smoking

support was one of my biggest advantages.
the quit smoking thread on this forum really helped me through the tough times. Its helpfull to have that support.![]() Everyone has their own motivation, mine was to be able to add a day everyday I didn't smoke. strange, but it did help me be strong |

Kami, congratulations and good luck!!!! (Just don't think moving to playa will make it any easier...everyone smokes here and it's so easy to do so, you can smoke ANWHERE).
I WISH I COULD DO IT TOO. I stopped about 6 times now, the last time for 9 + 5 months, and the first thing I did the first day I stopped breast feeding was smoke a pack. I know, its disgusting. But waht can you do. Smokers understand what i'm talking about. Now I feel so sick all the time, I really want to stop smoking but everyone says the only thing that works is WANTING TO. Nothing else works. I hate gums they make me sick, parches too (tried everything), and am afraid of hypnosis as I don't know anyone in playa who does it. In June I was in the US and went to a Border's bookstore (I mean, it's huge right?) to get this book someone talked about earlier on the thread.. they didn't have it and easn't going to be published again!!!!! I took it as a sign ![]() ![]() . Plus everyone in San Francisco smokes so what the hell, I felt at home. I guess I should visit a place where people really look at you bad if you smoke, any suggestions?Being in front of the computer a lot doesn't help either. ![]() I'll go check out that site suggested earlier. KEEP IT UP KAMI (as Anna tortuga said, our father did stop 20 years ago, but sometimes he does smell smoke from my cigarette and says he misses it....)
