Day One-Smoke Free

I WISH I COULD DO IT TOO. I stopped about 6 times now, the last time for 9 + 5 months, and the first thing I did the first day I stopped breast feeding was smoke a pack. I know, its disgusting. But waht can you do. Smokers understand what i'm talking about. Now I feel so sick all the time, I really want to stop smoking but everyone says the only thing that works is WANTING TO. Nothing else works. I hate gums they make me sick, parches too (tried everything), and am afraid of hypnosis as I don't know anyone in playa who does it. In June I was in the US and went to a Border's bookstore (I mean, it's huge right?) to get this book someone talked about earlier on the thread.. they didn't have it and easn't going to be published again!!!!! I took it as a sign . Plus everyone in San Francisco smokes so what the hell, I felt at home. I guess I should visit a place where people really look at you bad if you smoke, any suggestions?
Being in front of the computer a lot doesn't help either.
I'll go check out that site suggested earlier.
KEEP IT UP KAMI (as Anna tortuga said, our father did stop 20 years ago, but sometimes he does smell smoke from my cigarette and says he misses it....)

Come up here. Smokers are as bad as lepers today. The other day I was buying smokes at a local gas station, and this guy I know only slightly from work, started lecturing me about buying them- in public! A virtual stranger! If I were less polite I would have told him to mind his own effing business.

which is okay, since it will make quitting easier....once I get around to it...again.

My plan is to go on Zyban (third time is the charm, maybe?) in November. I only smoke about 4-5 cigs a day, so hopefully there won't be any weight gain, also since zyban usually helps with that *fingers crossed*.

It's not only the health aspect motivating me, it's more the money....think of all the money I will save at 11 bucks a pack. And the vanity, I am sick of the stinky smoker smell, basically. Blech.

Actually I'm not doing too bad but I'm on the patch. Two weeks on Sunday. Not many cravings and when I do have a craving, I just get out the trusty little mints (I've eaten a TON of these things) or grab a small bowl full of berries. I'm keeping myself busy though...so much to do to prepare for this move.

Congrats to John. I've had my weak moments but overall, the cravings are almost gone. We've had mucho stress in our lives this last month trying to prepare for our big move but overall, it has not been too bad.
