Only in New York City
We went to NYC last weekend. Just some random thoughts/experiences:
I saw this guy (on the left) on the subway: ![]() If you do not know who he is (and I cannot believe I can remember this crap), click here: YouTube - Ian Benardo: American Idol "Superstar" We did see the obligatory drunk man peeing on the stairway in the subway--my 12 year old son was quite amused, I was horrified. This guy was quite entertaining at the Times Square subway station (click on photo to view film): ![]() We went to the Yankees game on Friday night, naturally A-Rod hits #500 in the first inning on Saturday! ![]() Missing the Twin Towers ![]() Adam enjoyed the Statue of Liberty cruise (much calmer than the ferry to Cozumel!) ![]() ![]() ![]() Times Square was bustling ![]() If you go, go to Strawberry Fields in Central Park, a memorial for John Lennon ![]() For some reason, people were asking me for directions on the subway (I am not a New Yorker!). Must just be my attitude (is that a good thing?). Anyhow, it is a small world, one guy that asked for directions has a son at Notre Dame (near our home), and another guy was from my HOMETOWN, and graduated from the same high school three years after me. Only in New York! |

2. We did not go to St Pauls---it was like 100 degree there this weekend so we did not spend too much time walking around...I think the whole WTC site was lost on my son since was really young on 9/11. It is a huge construction site now: ![]() no memorials to speak of, except for this placard: ![]() We only spent one night in the city, so no shows. We are taking my in-laws there for their 50th Anniversary in October, and will take in a show then. Anyone have any suggestions?????? |

My goal in life is to be "friends with benefits" with Derek Jeter (even though he went to Michigan--proves no man is perfect). My son said that the Yankees game was his favorite part of the trip---he loved it when the fans chanted "Boston sucks" --- especially since the Yankees were not even playing the Red Sox! |

![]() ![]() great job on the construction! When we went it was still a hole in the ground, and some steps were still there from before that alone made me cry.On to better thoughts, i highly suggest "Mama Mia." It is magnificint! Oh, and make sure you go to "Balthazar" in Soho. Amazing restuarant, food, and service! |

He has the prettiest eyes! When they show them here I have to watch! Drives my daughter crazy cuz she doesn't think he's all that! I bet it was his favorite part! It would be mine!
My Dad took me to see the Cubs when they came to Denver along time ago! I had to see Mark Grace play! ![]() That's too funny! He'll remember it forever! |

Great pics...from the city so big they had to name it twice...NYNY
"New York" In New York freedom Looks like too many choices In New York I found a friend To drown out the other voices Voices on a cell phone Voices from home Voices through the hard sell Voices down a stairwell In New York Just got a place in New York In New York summers get hot Well into the hundreds You can't walk around the block Without a change of clothing Hot as a hairdryer in your face Hot as a handbag and a can of mace New York I just got a place in New York New York New York In New York you can forget Forget how to sit still Tell yourself you will stay in But it's down to Alphaville New York, New York, New York New York, New York, New York The Irish have been coming here for years Feel like they own the place They got the airport, city hall, concrete, asphalt They even got the police Irish, Italians, Jews and Hispanics Religious nuts, political fanatics in the stew Living happily not like me and you That's where I lost you New York New York, New York, New York New York, New York, New York New York In New York I lost it all To you and your vices Still I'm staying on to figure out My midlife crisis I hit an iceberg in my life But you know I'm still afloat You lose your balance, lose your wife In the queue for the lifeboat You gotta put the women and children first But you've got an unquenchable thirst for New York New York, New York New York, New York In the stillness of the evening When the sun has had its day I heard your voice whispering Come away now New York New, New York, New York Last edited by Cosmo : 08-08-2007 at 08:06 AM. |

As for a show to see, my aunt saw Lion King in theater in England, she said it is so moving, you absolutely have to see it. She said everything about it was amazing!!! I'm hoping to go in October to it in Minneapolis.
