it should be better by then, if you are after roosterfish. The warmer water was just moving in when we left. (The ocean was downright COLD (74 F) for most of the week.)I think the fishing is phenomonal there in early November/late October- best time of the year for marlin I believe. Don was soooo sad he never got to catch his roosterfish. But that amberjack was yummy. They are sure protesting against that new longline fishing regulation, Nom 129, that will kill off a lot of sportfish. ![]()

The Amber (Pez Fuerte) is in the freezer....waiting patiently till I have a day dedicated to smoking it ....yummmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!! Break out the club crackers and cream cheese!!!!/end threadjack........ Hey!! It's Baja..it fits with Cabowabo!!!! ![]() Me and the Amber doing battle.......45 mins.....at the end he had me leaning over the gunwhale.....LOL. I should really do a trip report about this 4 dayer...was loads of fun :P

ours wasn't QUITE that big , I think it was about 7 pounds. But yeah, really tasty fish, white and firm, we took it to a marina restaurant and they cooked it up, 4 different ways, BBQ, cajun, Veracruz and garlic butter. Mmmm.

Good stuff Riss!!! Probably similiar to the others in the "Jack" family.....Yellowtail, Roosters, etc... The smaller they are the better the meat is. Example....Big Roosters are darker than the small lighter fleshed/tenderer ones. So this big Amber, while I could grill it....it will be better smoked (accumulated oils, with age)

Putting his son in the band strikes me as pretty lame. I don't have a problem with daddy helping him out, but to make those old Van Halen fans have to listen to his 16 year-old son play is just indulgent. Get the kid started with his own band and his own music instead of making him be the next Gary Cherone.

here's an article on wolfie from last year. the problem with not having michael anthony in the band is he IS the background vocals for the group. he's got a great voice and I don't see wolfie picking up that end of the vocals.
