Playa for me

A friend of mine wrote this story a while back. At the time it touched me. Now it means so much to me. Hopefully the link works.
ESPN.com - E-ticket: Holy Ground
My dad and I traveled a lot as I was growing up. Most times for vacations, but sometimes when he was working. My dad loved to work! I guess he was a work-aholic. He never was a beach person, but in his later years I think he became one because he knew how much I loved the beach and the lifesyle that comes with living along the coast. However, I could never get him to go to Playa. I think he thought of the whole Cancun thing and just was dead set against it.
Finally, I talked him into it! We made the plans to go for my 40th birthday in October. We were actually in San Pedro Island in Jan. fishing and I told him, "If you like this then you will love the town of Playa"! He said, OK! You talked me into it! So I made the plans.
I never really have been a online chat room person. I have checked out this site on and off the last couple of years and it seems as if there are some very genuine people. The reason I brought this up is because my dad died three weeks ago. I held his hand as he took his last breath. I try to remember the good times but right now I just cant. So Playa for me this time will be a new start. My first vacation without my dad. But one I wish he would have made.

Thank you for sharing that...I know you'll have good memories of him when you're down there and will smile when you look all around at everything he would have enjoyed.

Very touching friend, I'll have my dad buy your dad a drink....he should be proud. Now you have to have fun for him as well as yourself. Peace

What a rich and wonderful relationship you shared with your Dad. The lovely thing is that you will continue to share them, too, in memory and his honor.

My condolences to you and your family.

I was with my dad then too...it was very hard then, but very special...its sounds like you had some incredible memories with your father that will keep him "alive" for you during the rest of your life.....they will all come back to you and sustain your treasured relationship with your father.

My condolences for your loss...welcome to the forum...now tell us about those bulldogs please. Pictures?

Sorry to bring such sad thoughts to a fun place. I'm better now. It just comes in waves. I know I'm not the first person to deal with death. He'll be with me in Playa. Mainly because I'm gonna charge it to his American Express.....just kidding!
