Actually, this photo is very sad. I had a friend who was seriously anorexic at one point in her life (not anymore, but she is still on the thinner side) and she had the same look. That sagging skin on this woman is not necessarily because she is old, as everyone is atributing it too. My friend looked the same, and she was only 28! the sagging skin can be a result of severe weight loss. This lady in the photo looks the exact same...like she has a sever case of anorexia and needs some serious help. It is quite sad, really.

Too bad you couldn't do a pictorial publication on your experiences. Might be somewhat amusing.

Hmmmm. Was she obese before? I was down to 111 a very long time ago and family was worried. I didn't have the sagging skin. I wonder what point you have to get to have the sagging skin? It seems like most cases of anorexia show a bunch of bones and big elbows, etc. I would be interested to know why she had the sagging as well.

Sudden, quick weight loss brings sagging skin if your skin doesn't have good elasticity, simple really. She went from about 130 to 85 pounds. Now she is 105.

I'm sure with this lady it also has to do with her age (she doesn't look 28 in the face, that's for sure). I guess I just don't feel comfortable making fun of her when she looks like she really needs some help.

Now Britney Spears on the other hand...

she also has a lot of wrinkles which could be age and/or sun exposure. just by looking at her face she looks like an older woman.

I am glad she has gained some weight. It really messes with your system when you drop that low. I'm glad I didn't dip that low. I lost mine quickly but I didn't drop under 100. The unfortunate thing is that when you look in the mirror you just don't see what others around you do. It is a complete mind warp. Very sad. It is hard to analyze how we can convince ourselves of not looking great when everyone else is quite accepting. I can see why parents and loved ones feel helpless. I hope she maintains her weight, and even better, gains a little more.

Yes, it was truly amazing at the time that she could think she looked so different than how we saw her. She has been maintaining at 105 for the past 4 or 5 years now, which I'd say is a good 10 to 15 pounds under what her minimum should really be. But I think that is just something that she may always live with, she just still can't seem to get beyond this still-constant worry about her weight and feeling 'fat'...she just feels she has to be this thin, no matter how much we tell her she is too thin. But 105 is better than 85!

My friend and I talk about this "weight" thing quite a bit. She is a vegan and is constantly trying to maintain her weight. I keep telling her that when she gains a little weight, I don't even notice it. So, in essence, she is worrying about losing a very small amount of weight......for what? I'm sorry, people just don't notice a small amount of weight gain....or loss. Luckily, I don't have a warped sense of body image anymore. On the flip side, under stress, I do lose weight. I don't have the skewed self image anymore....however, under stress, I have to frequently remind myself to eat. It's hard to explain.
