Hurricane Assistance Needed in Majahual ASAP from Playa Folks

Early tomorrow morning a convoy of Playa locals organized by Claudia will be heading down to the Mahajual area to carry supplies for hurricane relief and to evaluate the situation for future aid. We will be carrying down not only donated clothing but anything that can be assembled today. This includes some of the items that Claudia mentioned on the Hurricane Dean thread (utilitarian clothing, non perishable food, candles, flashlights, roofing material, plastic tarps, tents, etc.) and anything else that you may think would be needed in an area badly damaged by hurricane. Generators are especially needed.

If anyone can donate any of these or other items today, please drop them by the Luna Blue Hotel, Calle 26 between 5th and 10th Avenue before 10 pm. Otherwise, please make sure they are at Cruz Roja at the corner of Juarez and 25th Avenue before 8am tomorrow morning.

If anyone is interested in donating money, which will undoubtedly be put to very good use in this area, we will be accepting paypal donations (or cash at the hotel). Once again, 100% of the money collected will go to help hurricane victims in the southern part of Quintana Roo.

We'll be doing our own Sam's & Walmart run tonight. Remember, please drop off any donations at the Luna Blue before 10 pm or send us (or Heather) a PM or email if you need us to come and pick anything up.

We cleaned out our cabinets and came up with an amazing array of non-perishables and other things that will mean much more to the people down south than they do to us. Anyone else?? Come on, it's a REALLY big van!

Also, we have had a wonderful response already on the paypal donations!! I think we're up to $635.00 US so far. Please keep it up. We'll be sure the money is used well & will post with details once we return.
