I need info, please !!

Hello all. I'm supposed to travel for the first time to Mexico to Playa del Carmen on next wednesday. I would please ask for someone to tell me how the beaches are after DEAN. I've read that there is no sand in Cancun. Is that correct? At the hotel they tell us they're working on the beaches. Are they in bad conditions? Please, I would like some true information !! All the beach web cams are blaked out. WHY ??
Thanks a lot for the info.
Elba.

Dont panic Elba its not some big conspiracy, as far as i know all the beaches are fine, here they tnnd to change on a daily basis, lose a foot...gain a foot, the hurricane didnt really hit us here so come and enjoy..... the webcams (i believe) were all taken down in anticipation of a big storm and they probably just aint got round to putting them back yet

My guess is that Elba is italian. And in the European news (Germany) I read as well that 1/3 of the beach of Cancun was swept away.

Elba, don't worry... just go and enjoy!

Out of idle curiosity, assuming the beaches were not in good shape - which I understand is not the case - just what difference would it make? You obviously won't be canceling your vacation at this point, so why agonize over it? The beaches will be what they will be, and just hang tough, because they'll likely be different tomorrow anyway. Relax and enjoy.

I wonder where the Germans got their measurements of 1/3 and the other 'source' 1/1.

You and I know how the media are... if they couldn't report that Cancun had been completely destroyed, at least let them tell that Dean took part of the beaches away...

Lets face it..... the anchor on one of the news channels reporting live from "the scene" (i.e. Cancun, nowhere near the bloody scene) believed an iguana on a sea wall to be a bird. That's the standard of reporting we have these days.

Xaman Ha Condition of Beach

My wife and I are coming to Playa for week in November. Staying at Xaman Ha, and know the beach is always pretty narrow right in front of the condos. Can anyone tell me if Xaman Ha gained or lost beach during Dean?

From the sounds of it, PDC's beaches are fine.
but ....isn't it true that Cancun's beaches really aren't in very good shape, though?
After they spent what was it, over 19 million on that dredging project, did they not lose a lot of the progress made? Long before Hurricane Dean?
