Sunshine I will add that Sweet was right. Look Shammy up she is a travel agent and can help cause if anyone knows she would! She has links on her page. However my thinking is that you missed out when the getting was good on prices and the "deals" from the Princess are no longer there??

You're absolutely correct KC, and I just told her that on the other thread. Those rock bottom pre opening prices are gone.

Best way to get from Cancun Airport to Riviera Princess?

Hey everyone,
I'm sorry if this question has already been address.
I am just about to book a deal, found a good enough price, but they charge $100 extra for tranferres from the airport to the resort and then back to the airport. This seems like a lot of money for a shuttle there and back.
So, I have 2 questions.
1. How far away, approminatley, is the airport from the Grand riviera Princess?
2. Do you recommend just getting to the airport and taking a taxi, or a shuttle? How much do you think this would cost in comparison to the $100 that they want to charge me to prebook it?

Its about 30 miles away. You should compare your deal with the price of an Apple Package. Transfers are included.

An Apple Package? Where/Who can I call to see what kind of a deal I can get on a Apple Package? Is there a website? A phone # ?
I'm staying for 6 nights. I want the Platinum Suite from Oct 13th to Oct 19th for 2 people. The price I have now is $2234.40.
Even if I just take a taxi, it should not cost $50 to get there and then $50 back right?

I searched for Apple vacations and found their website. It's price at $2,484.24 including the transfer.
So, the deal I found is cheaper even if I include the transfer.
But, my questions still holds, how much would you guys think it cost to get a taxi or an airport shuttle from the Cancun airport to the Grand Riviera Princess.
I would guess maybe about $20 each way. Let me know. Thank you so much!

It'll be at least double that, for the ride TO the hotel (40+ miles from the airport) anyway. Taxi's at the airport are regulated and thus, they charge more when you pick one up there. You'll pay a bit less for the ride back but again, any time you hail a taxi from the lobby of the hotel, you'll pay a premium. It would be highly unlikely that you could stand out on the highway and flag one down either. If they're out on the highway, 99% chance there's someone in it.

Do yourself a favor and make it easy - book a private transfer before you go.

Thank you for your response. I will take that in to considersation.
When you get to the Cancun Airport, aren't there shuttle services that you can pay for?
I went to Italy last May and we did not Prebook the transfer from the airport to ROME. We got there and booked a shuttle and it cost $20 EURO, about $27-$30. That was Italy, a foreign country. Mexico is foreign too but not nearly as foreign as Italy. I would think that stuff is cheaper in Mexico compared to Italy. I'm going to see if I can call the airport and ask then if they have shuttle services to all the hotels.
If anyone has anything else to add, please do. Thanks!

Hey Boss.. You must have your Roscoe P Coletrain caught up in your Daisey Dukes?? Read the fine line that is obvious. One way round trip? I'm not a rocket sceintist ( my brother is in Houston however) but I would guess by my calculator that would cost $280.00 US. round trip since it says one way round trip?? Having said that given the fact you found on Apple a cost of $2,234 and shammy showed you $ 2,484 you thought it better to go without that quote? Hmm??? Doing the math your way with transfers in reality is $2,234+$280 for transfers round trip = $2,514 vs. $$2,484. Your falling for the sales gimmick even before you booked?

KC Arrowhead, what are talking about?? You misunderstood what I was trying to find out. SO, my math is correct.
I was trying to find a way to get from the airport to the hotel and then back to the airport. So, a round trip to and from the airport. The package on Apple included this for $2,484. The package that I found was for 2,234 without the transfer. They offer the same package with the transfer for $100 more. So, my deal would still be better that the Apple deal, $2,334 VS $2484. BUT, the question I had was, can I find transportaion for less that $100 round trip. The answer is YES. It will cost $45 ROUND TRIP to take a shuttle that I book at the airport. So, my final cost will be $2279. YEA!!

Wow! Sorry Shammy, when I posted the reply I was thinking about the transfer $$ and the comparison Boss posted to his total price vs. Apple. and not that you quoted him a price, I meant Apple. However I typed your name instead after reading the previous post. As for Boss, I misunderstood that you were wanting the shuttle because I did not see the shuttle going to the resort just the area. Oh well at least I made Sun Seekers head hurt?
