I like looking inward toward the pool. Outward facing rooms look at trees on sunset side. I would avoid outward facing rooms at the riviera side at all cost. |

[quote=smrtypnts;1058124]Clearly, if you're considering returning, it can't be all taht bad. I just booked this place for July. You say the water is "darker". I am from the NY area. Long Island water is "darker", not the crystal blue of the Caribbean. Would you say the water is not clear enough to see to the bottom? Would you say it's not "blue" at all? Can you expand your description? I've been to Cozumel and Costa Maya where the water was beautiful. Also, you say the entrance to the water is rocky? How's the sand prior to entrance? Is it something I'm going to want to lay on all day?
Should I be concerned of these "bites"? Again, you must not be too concerned if you're considering returning. The water is blue - just not as clear as it would be if it were sand below. Its mostly sand stone below the water thats causing the dark color. We walked the beach every day for miles in either direction. Small sand stone pebbles etc in the water, sand stone can be sharp and/or dull. The beach was fine clean beach sand. As far as the bug bites, these bugs had a buffet on my face/arms legs. We did not stay out side at night and I used bug spray. I found more bites on my arms upon arrival at home. I really think these are small 'no see em's' or ants that bit me. I look really bad (face has 3 very bad bites) I would have known if a Mosquito was biting my face. Thinking of posting a picture of the bites. Don't plan to return, these bites are over the top. |

Delayed at the airport!
Greetings everyone! We came across this website when we were searching for reviews about our hotel that we are visiting (today - Feb 28th), and we decided to join as we saw a lot of good travel advise being exchanged.
My boyfriend and I are staying at the Grand Sunset Princess in Riviera Maya. We booked through Apple Vacations and have the Jr. Swim out pool suite. We're actually at the airport as I type, and so far the only complaint is that our flight is delayed (hate usa 3000!!) at least 30 minutes, which probably really means 2 hrs. We'll be sure to let everyone know how the trip was, as we read mixed reviews as well. It seems that with each passing day, the reviews just keep getting better and better. Bon Voyage! Mark n Melissa

How far to main Road?????
Just curious if anyone knows how far to the main road the GSP is. We like to travel by Collectivo (Save big Bucks). Actually we are going to want to go to Xel-Ha. We have never stayed north of PDC and curious if we have to change collectivo in PDC???? Anyone have any insight, it would be most appreciated.

Well we just typed this huge long reply and got kicked off the site.... lemme try again..........
HOLA AND HELLO! Day 1, and what a vacation so far! We booked through apple under a swim up pool suite, and that exactly what we got and more!!! We arrived at around 1:30 p.m. and had a quick bite to eat (buffet was great!!!) and our room was ready for us at 2 p.m. The bellboy was quick to take our luggage off our hands and away from our worries, right to the room. Very friendly and let me tell you that we were TOTALLY taken back upon entering the room. The pictures do NO justice! The room is soooo much BIGGER than what the pictures show. The bathroom jacuzzi is a double jacuzzi and the bathroom is absolutely beautiful!!!! HOT and COLD water works very well, and the only problem is the lip on the shower floor that should be there, but it was quickly solved with a simple rolled up towel at the shower door. NO MORE PROBLEMS. The staff! Holy crap! I wanted to hug each and everyone of them! Very nice and attentive to your needs. If you have a question they are quick to answer them or find someone that can. Upon entering the room there were MANY beautiful and detailed "creatures" that were arranged by the housekeeping staff that just left me saying AWWWWW how cute! They were arranged out of towels!!! There was also an ice cold bottle of champagne chilling waiting for us! I don't want to spoil all of the surprises, but just know that it was definitely romantic wink! Wink! **Tequila** No Don Juan/Julio...just Jimador a few more, but very good. Smirnoff and Absolut as well as many other top shelf brandys and Rums. Everything works in the room.... the safe is big and will fit a 15 inch laptop. Very modern and safe. The beach: havent made it down there during the day yet ( i know, i know) but we took a nice walk down there last night and the sand felt like powdered sugar on our feet. Couldnt see the totality of the wate, but from what we saw, it looked clear. We are heading down there in an hour or so, so I'll report back. Saw a cute show in one of the outdoor sitting areas... very nice and great interaction with the audience and familys with kids. The furniture and construction of this place is outstanding, and shows every dollar of the $200 million dollars put into it. ***MOSQUITO PROBLEM*** So Im waiting in line at the spa to book a treatment and this girl in front of me is COVERED in bites!! I can't help but chuckle to myself after hearing her mom say "well I told u to use the spray" Well curiosity got the best of me, and I asked her where her room was and if she used any spray. No spray used, and they had a lagoon suite. Her brother was with her and only had bites on his feet (the only spot he failed to spray on his body) WE (as i said before) pretty much brought every piece of repellent available on the market. The lotion was applied at bedtime, and during the day we did one general spray through the room (maybe 1 mosquito seen flying) and while on the balcony we lit these sticks (DEET sticks) that when lit, they let off this smoke that repells bugs and last 4 hrs each. GREAT investment!!!! In summary: NOT ONE BITE, and VERY WELL RESTED! The BEDS ARE GREAT. Not too soft, and not too hard... like goldylocks and the 3 bears... just right! Talk again soon.... hope this helps.... |
