Hello, I returned Tuesday night from my stay at the GSP. After a 8 hr. return flight delay in Dallas nothing else seemed so bad. For the most part we had a good time! I loved our swim out room (3022 the same as SunshineJKs I believe). This room location is quite a walk from the main entrance but then closer to the beach! The beach was beautiful and we had no problems finding a place to sit (even after 11 a.m.). As well, there were always empty chairs around the pool area. We enjoyed a few of the evening shows in the courtyard area. This was one are though that we noticed where there was not enough seating. I did think the mix drinks were weak. Most people were drinking beer. We found the service to be slow but not to the fault of the bartender as he was usually working by himself…more trained staff is needed. I made up for it with a few refreshing margaritas in Playa. We had no problems getting a ticket at 10:30 for the 11 a.m shuttle but then it did fill up quickly. I enjoyed shopping and eating in Playa. From there we took the ferry to Cozumel for a few hours. The young men who greet the shuttles/taxies at the main entrances seem to be the ones who speak the most English. The young man at the check in desk spoke very little English and seemed unsure of things but nonetheless, our check in went smoothly. The grounds are large and there is alot of walking…I seriously lost 3 lbs.. The buffets were alright. We mostly only ate the breakfast. We did notice mosquito spraying at night. I got several bites on one leg. On my right hand, I have four bites evenly spread out from my pinky along the side (palm area) . On the 3rd morning I woke up itching my hand like crazy! At first I thought these were mosquitos however, now I am not so sure as each spot has hardened up with a red like blister on top. I have never seen a mosquito bite like that. Sound familiar to anyone? Bed bugs? I don’t know. The room appeared to always be clean. My friends who I have seen since being back have suggested I go to a walk in clinic tomorrow. I think I’ll live though…
Happy Travels to everyone and enjoy your visit. Last edited by agr8smile; 05-31-2008 at 02:50 AM.. |

We were on the Sunset side. The activity pool was near by but far enough away that what noise there was never bothered us. The pool areas always seemed more quiet after 5 p.m anyway. The swim up bars seem to close up in the late afternoon/early evening. We would usually float from our room to the activity pool, hang out for a bit and float back. We enjoyed the pool area outside of our room as it was always more quiet other than an occasional guest floating by. The resort did not seem as crowded as we expected, especially being there over a holiday weekend. The only time we did notice alot of most people was in the evening around the courtyard area.

The swim out rooms on the Riviera side start with #6. I think there is one blg. at the end with rooms starting with #7 series. Also, you can see a layout of the resort by going to the thread on this site "Grand Riviera Princess Resort Map?". This is the map given to you at check in. It kind of makes the pool area look like one big area. The pools are divided by the sidewalk paths and there are cute little bridges to walk over (or swim under if coming from a swim out room).

We have a group of 100 going next Monday, June 9-16. I am worried. The reviews on TA are looking bad again. I don't think everyone has been reading the reviews like I have, but I hope they have a positive attitude! That's makes a big difference I think.
