Grand Sunset/Grand Riviera Princess?

This resort is now being built some where near playa/ Punte bete. I looked at a super imposed image they have on their PDF brochure and then looked a google satelite maps and it may be being built between Ikal del Mar and Captain Laffite. Does anyone know? Or at least is there construction going on there? Thanks

Yes it looks like the property is the North side of the Kia Kaana, which is next to Ilkay del Mar.

I found it

I saw the location on my way out of town last week. It is the next resort just south of The Fairmont Mayakoba. I believe at one point they were building an Oriental next to the mayakoba so it would be next to this if the Oriental is still going up. In otherwords, aprox 15 min cab ride north of Playa Del Carmen. Not much action on the street just a small sign for the construction workers and a long narrow dirt road to the beach.
The opening date is scheduled for Feb 16th and the prices are really cheap for that time of year.....

Talking

Thanks for letting us know where it is Slynky. A group of 12 of us just booked through Apple for the May 17th of 2008 (used a travel agent who went through Apple, not available on line the last I looked). We were going to go with Iberostar Tucan, but the top of the line Platinum came out cheaper by about $50 at $1480 complete. We just stayed at the Bavaro Princess and were spoiled with the Platinum. This looks even better with all rooms by the beach, private pool and a reserved beach area with drink service.
The cheapest room was about $1150 with air, taxes and insurance.
A lot of unknowns with no pictures and no reviews, but it'll be a new adventure!

Grand Sunset Princess

Does anyone know anything about this resort? Is it on the beach? Their web site says there are 2 resorts being built on Mayan Rivera but not much other info. Any info would be helpful. Thanks so much!

Here's the most detailed info I can find: Princess Hotels & Resorts - Grand Sunset Princess

The fact sheet says 42 of the 98 Platinum suites are ocean view. That's 84 for the two sides of the hotel. The one document shows a layout of the hotel, although not in the clearest detail. The two buildings to the right are the Platinum suites with the beach to their right. They also have some suites on an incredibly long pool near the center of the resort and some suites on a lagoon near the main lobby. Looks interesting - can't wait for the first pictures and reviews. I think our group is up to 20 now!!!

Sunset

Here now. We sailed past the site as we went diving. >It looks very near completion at least the exterior buildings.

Check out "Where is the Grand Sunset Princess" just below. We have a group of 17 so far booked for May. Can't beat the price and thought it was worth a try. I believe it is about 15 min. North of Playa.

Does anyone have a more recent update on the Grand Sunset Princess? I'm loving the prices we've recieved!!

The (5*) resort sounds great and we watched the animated 'virtual' tour of the property. Is there really a big swamp lagoon thing in front of the beach? Is there a beach?
We're all set to jump in on on the adventure with a good size group with those rates! We are looking at June '08 and hoping all the new construction kinks will have worked out by then.

Thanks in advance for any info or pics on this property/area.

We booked 6/17 -24 group of 20 -30 + . They already ran out of std Jr Suites for that time period. Heres a pic of the resort (not too clear, under water camera) from the sea.
