Where should we stay?

My wife and I are planning our 3rd trip to Playa for next Feb. We are trying to decide on a place to stay and we would really appreciate some feedback. On our two previous trips we stayed at Riviera Caribe in a poolside room. We like the location and the hotel. We like being close to Mamita’s, hitting the local places (El Fogon, HC Monterrey). We don’t mind walking a good distance for some good food. We want to stay on the north side. We know there is a lot of construction noise in the north side, and it doesn’t bother us.

However, on our last stay, the traffic noise from 10th started to bother us a little, not real bad though. Since we will be staying for 10 nights in Feb, we thought about getting a larger room (suite) and we also thought that it may be time to try another hotel.

Here’s the options we’re considering:

1.Stay at the Caribe Maya, move up to a suite, Room 308, and deal with the traffic. Maybe a fan for some white noise.

2. Move to the Riviera Del Sol and upgrade to a suite. Heard mixed comments on this place.

3. Consider doing the condo thing. The Hacienda San Jose condominiums look nice and they are in the area we like to stay.

If anyone has stayed at any of these places recently, we would really like to hear your thoughts.

Thanks!

Condo......Usually larger then a hotel room with all the comforts of home....And if it is in the area you like to stay....Bonus.

We stayed in a suite at the Riviera Caribe and I did not really feel it was worth the extra money - I would have rather stayed in a pool side room

I bought a White Noise Machine a few years ago, and I LOVE it. Not only to drown out my upstairs neighbors who take showers late at night (and their bathroom is directly over my bedroom) but also to drown out the delightful songbirds who start tweeting LOUDLY outside my bedroom window at the crack of dawn on the weekends.

BUT... the BEST part is that it's small and easy to pack for vacation. Wherever we stay, once that machine is plugged in, it's just like home and we sleep like babies. We stayed at Riviera Caribe when they were doing massive construction across the street on 10th, and that white noise machine was a sleepsaver!!

If you want specifics on the model I have (it cost around $60 and is solid state so it travels very easily), drop me a PM and I'll gladly give you info (I bought mine on eBay).

I can't believe no one has yet mentioned the obvious........

A kitchen suite at Luna Blue.

OK, so Riviera Caribe has a pool, and so does Riviera Del Sol - but you didn't say a having a pool was a must.

If condo - Las Palmas across the street frm Luna Blue was great (and has a rooftop pool).

We have only stayed at a condo in PdC but highly recommend it. Ours was a block from the beach and a block from 5th Ave.

The Kitchen suits at the Luna Blue are great for a longer stay. 3/4 size fridge, extra single bed, dinning room table. Room to move around in. A great deal at $100 a night.

We stayed in the kitchen suite at Luna Blue. Great for three of us plus the fridge kept the beer, tequila, and food cold!

We have also stayed at Las Palmas and enjoyed that too.

Another condo complex in the area where we have stayed is Royal Palms. Great place, more expensive than the previous two, but worth the additional cost.

We can appreciate your desire to stay someplace new. There are so many wonderful places to stay in Playa. It's fun to research new places. Good luck!
