Water Filter

Hey,

Does anyone know if you can use a brita water filter on the taps down there? Would this make the water okay to drink?

Sorry, don't know, but the 5 gal water jugs are around $2.00 so hardly seems worth the effort.

Yes, I believe the first one costs $7.00 ($5.00 deposit) and when you return with the empty it's only $2.00. Then we fill up our smaller carry around bottles at night for the next day.

great, thanks for the info. i spent the winter in thailand last year and the only easy way to deal with drinking water was to buy 1 litre bottles.. not sure if they were ever recycled, but it's not the best bet for the environment.

I used a Brita water filter initially when I moved to the DF in 93. I found it on the shelf at Comercial Mexicana. I don't think I even got as far as buying a replacement filter before I was into the local system, and our velero (apartment building's elevator guy, water jug handler, car washer, gate opener, etc.) Manuel was hiking glass garrafones up to my apartment.
