Trip advice? Visiting Montreal and northern Vermont...

Any peeps familiar with this area or live in and around the area? Kelli and I are taking a "just the two of us" trip up there this November. Kelli's been to Montreal before, but its been 15 years. We went to southern Vermont last fall, but never made it up more than halfway up the state.

We know we want to go see the old city in Montreal. We also know we want to see the Stowe area as well (our current plan is to stay there).

So, my peeps, any suggestions on what to see, where to go, where to stay, where to eat and what to do?

All tips and suggestions are appreciated!

I hope they'll have the menus in US English or you'll have to take a phrase book.

Remember to wrap up well, as it's all ice and snow up there, brrr.

Good luck...

Husband and I spent 3 nights in Waitsfield Vermont at a Bed & Breakfast (The Featherbed Bed Inn in Waitsfield, Vermont). Not sure how far this is from Stowe but it was peaceful, quite, and centrally located as we were not that far of a drive from Burlington.

Also right next door to the B&B was a place called American Flatbread (American Flatbread - Waitsfield Vermont), which was probably the best thing I ate the entire time we were there. Its a restaurant only on Fri and Sat & can become packed. No reservations accepted but you can go there early and put your name on a list. There are other locations in VT as well, just check the website.

One thing I remember in Montreal is that we ended up being much more impressed with the flavour of the artisanal hard cider than with the beer. That surprised us. But do try the higher-end hard ciders. Umm!

Burlington is a neat city. Downtown streets are closed to traffic so there's a pedestrian mall. Lots of good restaurants and artsy shopping. College town, so prices are favorable.

November might be to cold to walk around because without the beautiful flowers and all the people walking around the city won t be the same. Montreal its a beautiful city and it has a very European touch. The restaurants and the night life clubs are excelent in Montreal.
I hope in spite of the cold weather you will still enojoy the city. Try to book a hotel in Old Montreal perhaps at Marriot...has a good location or Le Saint Suplice butique hotel) I stayed there 2 years ago and its very nice.
Everytime I went to Montreal(like 15 times ) I only went there to party, so I can t really tell you much about the turist atrractions, but I m sure that won t be a problem.
Have fun! And yes the menus are in english and also everybody speaks english there,,,I m not too sure about Quebec City which you should drive up to visit also if you have time.

Thanks for the suggestions folks!

I need to look into the weather some more, I think. If its going to be THAT cold, we may want to skip Montreal...

Its going to be cold for sure. If you are in Stowe, the place to stay for style/ atmosphere ( oh and the grub isnt shabby !) is

Stowe, Vermont hotels - The Green Mountain Inn

I have stayed there lots of times, enjoy !

Hey, guess what? THAT was the place I had already had pegged!!!

Glad to hear I was on the right track! So were you up there for skiing? Kelli and I don't ski (and its before the season in Nov), so we just wanted to drive around, see the countryside, go shopping, etc. You think Stowe is a good "base camp" for that?
